I’m planning on building an office on the side of my shop and want to run cat6 straight to it. Does the brand matter all that much? Will be buried and inside of conduit.

Also, I should be able to just run that wire straight from my modem inside of my house to the new office outside and plug directly into my work computer correct?

Not really, I judge quality more by cost than by brand. Just make sure your cable has solid copper conductors and *NOT* CCA (copper-clad aluminum).

Yeah probably.

I'd at least terminate both ends of your run with an RJ45 Keystone. Then run patch cables to your modem/computer.

So my current internet comes through my floor and connect to modem via coax cable. The house was previously wired with ATT in all of the rooms but I’m not sure how to be able to utilize the existing drops with my current setup

- Use SOLID COPPER cat6 (not CCA)
- Wouldnt hurt to use direct burial cable in conduit as extra measure
- find where at&t cables are centrally located and work from there if possible
- depending on age of house, your phone lines could be cat5e so could possibly utilize those

So I went up in the attic and all I see are 3 drops all piggy backed together. The first drop is where the main ATT line came in I believe.

I’m not able to post photos of the plate where the phone jacks are unfortunately.

How long will the run be? Solid not stranded. If you’re terminating watch some YouTube videos so you do it right. If it’s badly terminated you’ll lose performance. I’d still get outdoor rated cable.

Do not cost cut on cable. It will haunt you until you move out. It's not worth it to save $70 on a box of cable of 500 feet.

Cat6 Ethernet has a distance limit of 330 feet. You didn't mention how far the shop/office is to your house. If it more than that you can do fiber or a wireless bridge.
