I need a good document scanner that can do both sides and be somewhat portable. Anybody got any recs?

Not sure of your budget or speed requirements but we use the heck out of the scansnaps made by fujitsu. Decent quality and plug and play friendly.

Fujitsu and Canon is what we always had the best luck with for scanning into our Document Management System.
We usually ordered from Scantastik

Tinny scanner app if you use iPhone. I use it everyday.

I've been using Adobe Scan on my iPhone as part of my telecommuting setup and it's been great. Clear pictures of documents, can upload it to the cloud/e-mail it securely, etc.

"Somewhat portable" is kind of vague. I use to refurb and resell scanners, so I am pretty familiar with all of the brands/models that are most used.
I'll echo the Fujitsu ScanSnap recs. ix500 is a great scanner but is pricey at the moment (it can connect via WiFi to scan). ScanSnap S1500 is also good and is significantly cheaper (no WiFi with these, just USB). ScanSnap S1300/S1300i are the smaller, more portable versions of this model (also what I personally use).
The ScanSnap series are really easy to set up and use and have proven to be pretty durable in my experience.
I would stay away from Kodak, Brother, and Samsung scanners personally. Canon and Epson can be hit or miss depending on the particular model.

For that matter. When I traveled a lot I always used One Drive for scanning my receipts and it worked really well.

Another vote for their products.
If you can find an S300 used, those were the best, and beat the newer 1300 or whatever

Check out the notes app if you have a iPhone. I scan papers all the time with it and it is better than any app I have used. Can easily be emailed to your self.
