Florida Announces Honorary ‘Mr. Two Bits’ For Season Opener

Former Florida running back Ciatrick Fason will serve as the Gators’ honorary “Mr. Two Bits” for Saturday’s season opener against Florida Atlantic.

Fason played at Florida from 2002-04 and earned first-team All-SEC honors after rushing for 1,267 yards during his final season in Gainesville.

There’s also an interesting connection between Fason and new Florida head coach Jon Sumrall.

During Florida’s 20-3 win over Kentucky in 2004, Fason rushed for a career-high 210 yards and a touchdown. Sumrall was playing linebacker for Kentucky that afternoon and led the Wildcats with eight tackles.

More than two decades later, the two will be back on the same field as Florida begins the Sumrall era.

“I like this guy at the helm,” Fason said of Sumrall. “I like his attitude. He’s a competitor.”
