Cord cutting is great for families, you don't need to be watching that much garbage anyway.

It's funny people complain about Kodi, my grandma can work it just fine.

I've been off the cord at least 4 years. Recently switched from Sling to Playstation Vue for live TV. Pay for that and Netflix total of about $80 a month.

Have Kodi and all that only mess with it for movies and live events (like boxing).

I'm about to reconnect the cord as well. Amazon, Netflix, Hulu and Sling + weak att internet just isn't working/ worth it for me. I'm about to get fiber in my area and their total package will run me about $120. Actually cheaper than what I'm paying now by "cord cutting".

I asked myself a few questions and was able to come to "cutting the cord"

Question 1: Do you like paying $1800 year for cable/internet? No.

Question 2: Is Cable TV = to Crack to you? Never smoked Crack, but no TV is not that important to me.

Question 3: Do you mind saving $900/year if it means an occasional hiccup? Nope

Question 4: Would you cease to exist if you missed 1 show that you used to watch while eating pizza? No

Question 5: Would you freak out about having to spend more time with your kids or wife because you don't have "Full blast" TV? No like my kids and wife more!

Question 6" Would it bother you to be outside a little more than being inside because your precious TV wasn't full blast? The more I'm outside the more I am sure I do like seeing outside over TV.

Question 7: Will you die if you don't have 400 shows 100% of the time? I will not die.

I passed my test for not being a slave to cable and cut the cord 18 months ago and am more than happy!

For me it came down to too much jumping around between apps and inputs to watch college football.

Worth the extra money for me.

Thats $166 per month...or, nearly 3x my Directv bill...

cord cutting is like crossfit. Too many cord cutters love to talk about how awesome cord cutting is and like to embellish either the benefits or the cost savings or both.

The reason your directv bill is so cheap now is a direct result of people cord cutting. Prices have been impacted by it.

$166 is about where I was at with landline phone, internet, and cable before I slashed the landline and cable. People forget about landline now because pretty much everyone has cut that cord out.

I spend a good bit on internet now, but some of that goes for business use and I like having gig service. I've been without any paid service by myself for a few years now, but I have access to a cable login from my in laws, so my situation isn't completely free. Someone does pay for some of it.

Even after ditching Netflix, Hulu and cable tv, I could never get myself to cut the cord entirely. I do use Kodi and Amazon Prime Video for entertainment, but cannot get rid of internet just yet.

I actually just signed back up with Cox. Upgraded from 150mbps to 300mbps and added the 300+ channel tier which includes HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, Stars, and Epix as well as the sports channels. HD DVRs in two rooms. $159/month vs the $155/month I was paying for internet and Vue.

Deciding factor--Tired of shitty quality for sports streaming and never being able to catch CBS on the OTA antenna. For that price it was a no-brainer.

Cord-cutting doesn't mean getting rid of internet.

Why should things "stream"??? The way it ought to work would be to DOWNLOAD (NOT "stream") the necessary A/V file, and then play it. The whole tech idea of "the internet" was originally to allow digital files to be sent intact in spite of a nuclear-war damaged communications infrastructure. "Streaming" throws all that tech superiority out the window for something very little better than over-the-air transmission.

No, no it doesn't.

It's about cutting the metaphorical cord, not the literal one.

DirecTV is a "cord" that many are cutting.
