I have several devices without a charging port (not phones). What probably remains is the micro-USB data connection.
The benefit of wireless charging is that it eliminates a major water leak path into the interior of the phone, making for decreased potential for water damage. That is why all the portable electronics makers are moving to wireless headphones as well.

Why should things "stream"??? The way it ought to work would be to DOWNLOAD (NOT "stream") the necessary A/V file, and then play it. The whole tech idea of "the internet" was originally to allow digital files to be sent intact in spite of a nuclear-war damaged communications infrastructure. "Streaming" throws all that tech superiority out the window for something very little better than over-the-air transmission.
