Their prices suck.
Their internet is ok.
The customer service is basically what has kept us with them. Now they’re taking that away as you have to text or chat only after 8? Since when? Their text and chat agents take 4 minutes to reply. Takes forever.

We pay $200 a month for two DVR boxes and internet 100mpbs with a panoramic modem

Text them that you'd like to cancel your service, see if that gets someone on the phone.

It pisses me off I have to pay an extra $50 for unlimited internet. Yet I have their full cable package.

To me, you shouldn't have a restriction for bundling both.

Wait, you pay an extra $50 every month for them to lift an arbitrary restriction? I'm glad I left cox when I did.

I canceled my cable last week after the upped my monthly price to $225/mo for basic cable + internet + phone

When you try and cancel they will beg you to stay and offer you additional discounts. I just got tired of dealing with their shite. Their product is getting outdated/not needed with internet/streaming and they still want to increases their prices, wtf that just aint right

Not anymore. I think they will offer cuts if you live in an area with a comparable service but if you live in an area with nothing better than cable, I think they have that in their system.

Last time I tried the cancel song and dance the guy openly mocked AT&T service for an hour.

Dropped their TV service at the beginning of the year, and haven't missed it at all.

As soon as AT&T runs fiber in my area I'm dropping their internet too.

For real.

I mean we also have the Sports Package, HBO, and record multiple shows at one, but for some reason it's hard for us to cut the cord.

I pay for 300 down/30 up. I usually get 50 down/.05 up, yes .05 up.

Cox tried to come out and fix it, said they did, and then tried to charge me $150 for a tech fee

Sadly, I'll be sticking with them when I move so I can get gigablast at my new house

I cut the cord from Cox last month. I called their CS and told them that with Hulu+Live and HBO I would be going from paying $130/month for tv from them (without HBO) to ~$60/month but if they could match that I would stay.

Stupid bitch tried to upsell me to an even more expensive package that included home phone. My response was "I don't think you quite grasp that I am trying to lower my bill".

Needless to say the lowest they could go was about $85 but I would have had to sign a contract.

Cut my tv service off, kept the internet and am glad I did. Hulu's UI is clunky as shite, I get a smidge of buffering every now and then and the Live service doesn't include The Weather Channel, but other than that I have had no problems and it's well worth cutting my Cox bill in half.

Just give it a shot if you can. There is more than likely a cheaper way to watch every show you care about. As a huge bonus, I've found myself watching a whole lot less tv and getting a lot more done. I don't miss channel surfing one bit.

Not to divert the thread, but I had something similar; was paying for 300/30 and was getting <20/25. I replaced my splitter for an amplifier, and re-ran all of my coax lines so the only split would be at the splitter. Even ran separate lines for cable & modem eventhough they are next to each other.

Since I did this I typically get 320+/35; but I do need to perform a hard reset on my modem at least once every 2-3 months. I do the traditional reset for both TV & Modem. Then I shut everything off, and disconnect the feed into my amp, and turn off my amp. Then I reconnect everything and my speeds are back where they should be. Huge pain in the arse, but worth the 20 minutes of aggravation to keep my speeds.

I actually prefer the chat feature. You can save the messages and use it against them when they try to change their tune. I caught AT&T in a bait-and-switch several years ago. Allowed me to upgrade to all channels for the same price for 2 years to stay, 2 months later they started billing full price (think it was over $300) until I sent them the transcript.

They didn't do this to me. But a month or so later, I started receiving special deals and offers that they somehow couldn't offer me when I was a paying customer. They seem to bank on getting you to sign up again after you cancel.

I just use Direct TV Now, I have no interest in cable anymore. I don't pay extra for DVR, I don't pay for a cable box, and I can have 2 streams at once.

I tried this in BR once, and they escalated it and all. In the end, they tried to call my bluff, and I had to drop Cox. Switched to DirecTV for TV, and used my phone hot-spot for about 6 months. In the end, I had to cave and get the Cox internet again, but I got a reduced rate

What did you replace them with? I'm considering dropping them as well. They just went up $45 a month.
