That was the price after I ditched cable. I've have been a high speed customer since the first cable modem arrived. It is never 1gb though, I think they lie, but it tested about 500mbps.

shite. I just asked them to ditch cable and just get gigablast and they're telling me $129. I really hate dealing with ATT but it's half the price.

Be careful because you start adding up subscription services and you're back where you started.
true, but you can cut or pause them when you want...

my samsung TV's that I bought from Costco recently stream fine...I can get every streaming service, plus it has built in AppleTV, that gives me access to my iTunes purchases.

If not, your current provider is all too aware of what you are doing and will jack up the price of internet by quite a bit, so you will end up paying the same, or even more, for internet + subscription services.

Not necessarily, my internet price was the exact same when I cut the cord a few years ago. Since it has gone up about $5. I have 300 down/30 up through Cox. Only difference was I did not have the "bundle savings".

I also get the Hulu/Disney+/ESPN+ bundle through my cell service, pay $13.99 for Netflix, and have an HD antenna. If I need a sports package, I get Sling Orange & sports pack by the month for $45.

Without the Sling package, my bill is less than 60% of what I was paying through Cox. Just over 75% cheaper when I add back Sling.

AT&T only offers 25down/5up package in my area, so not an option.

There in lies the rub. TV makers only support the software on the TV for about 1 yr to maybe 2 years after a model is released. After that you will stop getting bug fixes and app updates which will be needed to continue watching many services.

You will need an add-on device at some point so it is pointless to consider smart features on a TV at initial purchase. If you get a TV that works well on its own for the first 2 years, great, but dont sacrifice picture quality for that.

Get a set top box, not a smart TV.

I bought 3 65" Samsung curve TV's, they are fine, but I have HULU with ATT 1Gbps Fiber and I still get some minimal buffering about every night. Maybe 3-4 times each night for 5 seconds.

I contacted HULU support, and they said there were some issues with HULU and Samsung TV's, but that was all they would tell me. Don't think that was true.

nobody really needs 1Gbps either. I work from home and 100Mbps is more than enough for my work and I'm a heavy network user due to my CAD software. I also have 3 kids doing school from home all day. I can do 4+ streams of 4k HDR at a time with no issues.

This. I pay $44.99/math for 150 mbps and I can stream fine with 3 college kids playing video games. I would imagine that very few people need gigabyte speeds. It's a dick swinging contest for some, I guess.

BTW, YTTV has all my local channels, as well. I have an antenna, but haven't needed to set it up.
