Chattanoogas EPB fiber was up 3.3% from 15 to 16.
They offer unlimited data on fiber network.
Minimum plan iirc is $60 for 100mb down. 1 gig plan is $70.

i love how shitty comcast service is so i can only watch tv on the one box hard-wired to the cable box and i have to work-around them to stream shows anywhere else in my house.
I used to work for Comcast... I don't defend them at all, and support cord cutting. However it's stupid that everyone's cord cutting plan involves using the login of someone still paying for cable or satellite.

Yeah didn't think about kids.
Yep. I have two 10 yr olds and they leave Netflix on in their rooms all of the time. My wife will leave SlingTV up all day because she doesn't like the silence. I'm not a huge tv watcher outside of sports and maybe 2 or 3 shows and we exceed 1TB occasionally. I checked and we are under it most months.

Good thing I use the various wifi connections from my neighbors that were easy to crack.

i mean, i can't think of that many options that are even worth 4k

step 1: buy that incredible 65" Sammy HDR deal on the techboard
step 2: watch any of the latest netflix shows in 4K or 4K youtube videos.
step 3: come back here and say there's no difference.

Man I hate cox, that is why I switched to AT&T.

TD is always interesting on this because people get pounded all the time on here for being cheap. But, when it comes to the thing they are basically on here for...sports...they would rather jump through hoops to get some shitty stream or use cuz's password than just plunk down a few bucks to get an awesome picture and access to so many great channels. I know everyone rips comcast, but the sports tier is like $10, I think. That's incredible (yeah, I understand I am paying for hundreds of other channels I don't need).
My other point here on internet usage is I don't stream a bunch of content. Why should I be charged the same as five people at CAD's house streaming content 24/7? Put us on different rates.

Somewhat unrelated to cord cutting, but totally related to hating cable companies:
It really chaps my behind that all of these cable companies trot out paperless billing as a way to "go green" -- when they're really just cutting costs for themselves.
You want me to cancel the bill you send me? Fine, cut $5 off my bill each month. Otherwise, keep mailing it. I'm not doing you any favors -- when is the last time you did me a favor?

let me clarify. i am paying for comcast cable.
i only get xfinity on a single box.
comcast provides NO PATH to use fire/chromecast/roku/etc to push that content wirelessly to any other tv in the house.
therefore, i have to find other means. its not about using someone else's login for me. its still fricked i still get screwed on my data usage because of it.

i've watched 4k
many times it makes the overall viewing worse because the original content wasn't made for 4k
also the extreme clarity has completely eroded the use of focus
but i know not everyone has my eye or tastes. it's still the biggest "first world problem" i think i've ever heard of

The internet should be viewed as a utility. ISPs should not have the power to restrict.

i got fricked for about 8 months worth of overages because of that bullshite 300GB cap until they finally moved it up to 1TB
Until I read this comment, I had no idea that Comcast raised the cap from 300gb to 1tb. I have been way over 300, but under 1Tb. Accordingly, I have been paying $50 a month for unlimited internet that I didn't need

I used napster but I was 20 at the time. I'm pretty sure I was trashy.

I think all of you in 70809 should call your city council member and state rep. Their constituent services actually can effect these situations.
