Netflix recommends 25mbs minimum for their 4K content. That's over 11 GB per hour. There's nearly 700GB per month right there just for one TV watching 2 hours per day.
Or you could watch 1080p for 1/3rd of that data

last i read, municipal internet pretty much always ends up a big loser (which includes LUS)
LUS really is the shite
its not free or anything but i've got 100mbs download and upload speed for $40 a month
thats a pretty good deal

Just checked mine. Without any video downloading I'm at 740GB and my month doesn't end until the 7th. I'm a single guy without any roommates.

You're right, hell, you could watch it on sd for even less. Better yet, you could hook up your old crt tv and watch it on VHS for no data!

I don't blame them. They have to do what they have to do as a business to keep up with the times.

How did you all not see this coming. I have been saying for over year that they aren't going to sit by and lose money because you don't want to cable.

for those lucky enough to get the service
not for the rest of the area that pays so that you get subsidized internet use

the next step is going to be coming down HARD on people sharing passwords for ESPN, HBO, etc as well as completely illegal things like Kodi (they are in that process right now)

Good thing Eatel just offered their services in BR.
No cap for them

coordinating with the services to monitor the account access patterns (times, IPs, etc)

Time to go see if any of my neighbors have an open guest network or a default router password.

$10 for each 50GB I go over.
So, surely they'll pay me $10 for each 50GB I go under... right?

I have Comcast in Atlanta. We have been capped at 300GB for a while. I was getting killed with overages with 3 Netflix watching/computer gaming kids. Finally, I found out that I was able to pay an extra $30 a month for unlimited internet. Maybe that will be an option with Cox
Posted on 6/27/17 at 2:30 pm to Harry Caray
What the hell are you people streaming to exceed those limits? I've only every gone over 300 GB once and it was only cause I had to upload a huge database file from home.
Posted on 6/27/17 at 2:30 pm to SlowFlowPro
But how can they prevent people from sharing their password. How can they say you can't use your parents account to watch TV if your parents are fine with it?
Why should location matter?

I think the original Comcast plan was charge anyone over 300 Gb or something.
raises hand

i got fricked for about 8 months worth of overages because of that bullshite 300GB cap until they finally moved it up to 1TB
