pay for a decent VPN or get Usenet access

I guess I was looking at them as two separate things..I assumed you still needed to use a VPN when on Usenet

I setup vnc on my parents PC and by the time I had driven from Monroe home to Nashville hackers had completely compromised their computer to the point I had to even reflash the BIOS and reformat the hard drive.

Since then I'm very wary of what I allow into my home network.
you sure the old timers didint just start pushing buttons and frick it up?

Service I use offers 256-bit SSL encryption on all transfers. Haven't heard a peep from Cox in the past few years and have acquired quite a few movies that way.

I am sure someone somewhere could possibly break in a see the traffic, but in the meantime my Plex library will continue to grow.

Have you thought about rolling your own OpenVPN server to connect to your parent's computer instead of VNC?

I had a similar VNC incident about 15 years ago. Luckily for me everything on that box was backed up to an external drive at the time.

Are you saying OpenVPN is not secure?

you need to do some reading. XVid is a codec in the version of mpeg. Web-dl is how it was retrieved, downloaded from Amazon, or blue ray rip.i could go through it but it is a lot to type. i typed it to cad awhile ago. i might look for it.

but you can read on how torrents are labeled. everything in the title has a meaning. which is how it was retrieved, container, video format, audio format.

ETA: start here. LINK

so i try to download Web-DL, HEVC(H.265), AC3 if Dolby TrueHD isnt available.

If HEVC isnt available i get H.264 both in MKV.

Web download is the best because it is just the file downloaded. Web Rip is someone watching the movie online and recording their screen. and Blue Ray Rip is a program that pulls the file from the blue ray disc. and so on.

What's with all the better call Saul episodes having Netflix branding? They all say "Netflix original".
I'm talking about current season episodes.

I have several series configured to download automatically. One of my wife's shows was downloaded and in Plex before it aired the next day. No complaints here.
