Best windows laptop?

Price doesn't matter. Currently have a surface pro that is three years old. Don't play PC games so that doesn't really matter.
Have been looking at the new snapdragons and the AMD Ryzen 9

I repair laptops, I recommend that you stay away from cheaper brands, especially HP, HP's are popular because of price and useless features, but they sure take a lot of shortcuts.
My "GOTO" are Dells. Good components, great customer service. And they keep their driver library up to date, a lot of manufacturers don't. I have no problem with AMD processors, the only time you can have issues is if you run some proprietary software, most of those are best on Intel CPU's.

I've had bad experiences with dells in the past. I also want something with a similar build quality to apple. That's why I've been using the surface pro

Why not get another surface pro?

Intel is generally better at single thread tasks and AMD is generally better at multi threaded tasks, but actual issues? That’s not something I’ve ever heard of.

Any big issues with snapdragon? And is spending $300 more to go from 16 to 32 gb ram worth it? Just use it for work, but I generally have a shite ton of applications/website tabs open

Snapdragon is solid. Yea, get more RAM. Never a bad decision if you can afford it.

Yup getting more RAM is like getting more tires at Darlington. Can never have enough

This is just objectively not true

Sure, you can’t have “too much”, but you can absolutely have “enough”, beyond which you get zero benefit and are basically just setting money on fire. I would need to know exactly what he’s doing to know whether he would ever have a use beyond 16GB, but I will say that $300 for another 16GB of RAM is an obscene abuse of the consumer. Unless he doesn’t care about the money, at all, it’s highly unlikely that he’ll see any benefit, much less $300 worth, out of going from 16GB to 32GB. 8GB to 16GB would be a different conversation.

Get the new Surface Laptop with the Snapdragon elite processor. The only weakness is gaming and that is not an issue for you. I got one about a month ago. It's the best laptop that I have ever had.

The jump in price from the X to the Elite is pretty substantial. Unless he knows he needs the extra processor power, it may not be worth the extra cost.

Dell without question
I have had my Dell for about 5 years and it is still going. I replaced the hard drive and battery in it. I need to either replace the ethernet/wifi boards or get something else. It gets a fraction of the speed my tablet and phone gets.

The best are going to be gaming-style laptops that will be heavy/bulky.
Do you actually use your laptop on the go? I'm assuming this is for your business.
What programs do you want to use?
A decked out X1 Carbon is probably going to suit you best, b/c they're thin and you can spec them out pretty highly (but they're not going to be the best, technically)

Compatibility will take a few years to catch up, due to the architecture difference.
So the issues depend on what you use program-wise.

Again, depends on what you're using it for.
If money is really no object, yes, but 16GB DDR5 RAM is going to take care of most shite a normal person/business does.

Look into LG Gram
LG Gram
X1 Carbon
ASUS Zenbook
Are typically my go-to recommendations for your typical small business owner who takes their laptop on the go. All are small/lightweight.
