I've been using Hangouts, but apparently the SMS is being phased out from it.
I'm not a fan of my phone's default messenger app.

I use textra as well but android messages might pass them up soon. It's certainly not "nothing comes close".

No quick compose.. No scheduled texts. That's just a quick glance. Textra has much deeper customization as well.

scheduled text? dude that's just some fluff 99.9% will never use.
I believe android messages is incorporating RCS quicker which is why they have a change to surpass textra. Textra may be getting it soon too and if they do i will continue to use textra. I enjoy it. But the difference between the two is pretty negligible.

Never use? Fluff? I think you're underestimating the feature.

i dont. i've used both. i prefer textra at the moment but you are vastly exaggerating the gap between the two.

Count me in for Textra. I have Sprint and Android Messages always has issues getting my MMS messages. Textra never fails. Also I enjoy that I can have a new text wake the screen, see what the message is, and reply without unlocking the phone

I use Textra.
Does anyone here pay for it or does everyone just use the free version?
I really hate the delayed ad at the top, but not sure I want to pay to get rid of it.

I used Textra for a while, loved it, but it started messing up for me. I wouldnt get pictures that were sent in group texts. Switched to android messages and haven't had an issue.
I know i'm in the minority that had an issue with Textra, most people love it.

Textra was the best for me then started texting one digit off from the numbers I was sending to. I'm using pulse now which lets you get texts on your tablet too. Not as good as textra but better than the others I tried.
