My wife has a way of breaking phone charger. I bought an Amazon 3 pack on June 1. She managed to break all 3. Im convinced it’s her not the chargers cause mine never breaks until she breaks hers and starts using mine.

Any recs for ones that don’t break

Does she run them over in the driveway ?

How do you break them constantly ?

Your best bet is to get some sleeved 00 gage wire pair and terminate yourself.

My 14 year old son has this talent.

He goes through cords at a rate 4x faster than anyone else in the family.

breaking/losing/moving them. I feel your pain. It happens...

I did find these that have slowed down my wife from breaking them. Doesn't really help much with the other two issues in the household. But these won't break the cord if you are a lay down and browse on the phone kind of person.

i feel you. i'm still using the same charger from my pixel 1 on my pixel 3 and my wife cant go a month without trashing her iphone lightning cord. women just have a different 'take' on technology i think

eta then she looks at me when it wont charge like its my fault

Chargers are full of metal wires. Metal is flexible, but if you continuously flex it back and forth, it will break.

Buy cheap 90 degree cables like Lazy suggested. She will still manage to break them, but it will likely last longer, just because she's less likely to repeatedly flex the cable back and forth.

She also probably won't like it, because the root of your problem is that she likely uses her phone frequently when it's plugged in, and a 90 degree will hit her hand, but you need to pick your poison

my wife is compulsive/anal retentive/ocd and every time she gets out of her car she takes the cord and wraps it around the charger and puts it in the center console.

As long as she *always* wraps it the same direction, it's merely bad. If she alternates direction, it's literally the fastest way to unintentionally break a charger

oh no doubt.

she also tries to set a personal record each time with how quickly she wraps up the damn thing and i cringe everytime i watch her wrap it up like a tight rubberband.

i've given up years ago trying to point out this is the worst thing she can do to her cord.

Tell her to wrap using a much larger radius and stick it in the glove box. My wife is a gem of a woman. Most men would kill for such a lovely, loyal, generous soul but she suffers badly from technoignorance. I feel your pain. Good luck.

I feel like this a support group. I typically buy 50 pack bulk USB-C cables and store them in a locked drawer. The wife and kids have to come to me to get a new one every other week and deal with an extremely stern dad look.

Buy a charging pad. They're a game changer.

I have a few around the house and in the office. Only place I still have an actual cable is in my car. And the one on my desk doubles as a charger for my mouse.

Though I sprung for a 15w model. Charging speed is great.

90 degree connectors are the only kind that belong in the bedroom.
I buy almost all braided cords now, too.
The ones in the picture look like the exact ones I bought for my wife.

Second solution for the other problems:

I bought red and blue cords. I told her to pick a color. She chose red. I told her the blue ones need to be where I left them and shouldn’t move. Do whatever you want with the red ones. The problem has largely resolved (a few brands make some combo packs with a 10ft, 6ft, 3ft, 1ft or some combination of lengths that is reasonable like that.
The thing I did that I actually think saved our marriage is I also bought a 90w charging block with 2x usb C and 1x USB A. I bought 2 x 10ft chargers capable of fast charging, again in two distinct colors. I have designated this the “travel” set. It does not leave my backpack while we are in the house. My backpack (which also has a headphone splitter, a pair of Etymotic ER4xr headphones for each of us, and two extra charging blocks and a couple of extra old usb-a chargers (our old travel set before the “fast” block was bought)).

It is probably excessive, but it works.

Tried this. My wife just ends up with a dead phone and complains the pad doesn't charge the phones. I checked to make sure it works and it does.

Went through this as well. Told my wife to hold onto the phone when she puts it down to make sure she feels it vibrate. Then showed her the status light. She’s been good since then
