Best home camera system (wired)

I'll be honest, the lorex camera system has been underwhelming (4k system) when it comes to being away from home. Now the image quality is good, but for me I like being able to see things when I'm away.
Connecting it over phone/app is very buggy, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
Any brand people have had good results with in regards to quality and being able to connect to an app or simply being able to constantly stream while away?

We have Reolink and really like it. You can find it on Amazon

Ring is pretty solid, they make wired products.

I found a 16 Camera 4K POE NVR system (sold under the name ONWOTE) Amazon for about $1600... Been running now for a few months, so far the daylight image quality is excellent, they do drop back in quality for low light/IR operation (but decent enough for the cops to ID the guys that looted my neighbors cars last week).
Unlike the other two systems I have, the cameras are true IP Cam's not locked with proprietary firmware so they work with anything.

I have a Lorex system from 2016 (2mp NVR solution) and have no issues with remote connectivity. I have added 3 Reolink cameras as replacements to front of house and they work well. Good pricing and easy to setup/configure. I'm waiting on a Ubiquiti camera to come in to use as demo.
All depends on how much you want to spend. Your Lorex system could be an easy fix.

ring sucks. i have had 2 instances where i needed footage and the motion capture timed out and i missed the recording.
Im planning a UI build and based on everything i have read it is a great way to go but not plug and play.

Reolink 5mp poe is what we have and it works great

Another happy Reolink customer here.
99.5% of what I do with it is looking at the monitor and DVR directly, so I'm just figuring out the app. It seems to do what I want it to so far. The only thing I haven't 100% figured out is the e-mail notifications. But the push notifications work just fine.

I went ahead and ordered the reolink 8 camera off Amazon since it was 100 off to try out.
Lorex has been giving me issues with port forwarding and the app so I can't watch it away from home without having to do other things like remote desktop. It gets old fast.

I'm exploring Lorex vs Reolink currently for a 4K POE NVR system on my home. Can either of these NVR's connect to WiFi to access video remotely, or do they have to be connected with an ethernet cable to your router?

connected to WiFi or wired has nothing to do with remote access/viewing...

As a lesson learned, i just installed the RLC-423 PTZ camera and came to find out that it only rotates in a clockwise motion. I had anticipated being able to set my left stop and right stop and that it would sweep back and forth as desired....only to find out that you can't after the fact...

quote:I've never seen an NVR with wifi. The point of using PoE, and ethernet in general, is for the speed and stability required for high quality video. Wifi kind of defeats the purpose, even if only for remote viewing and not the actual recording.

You have to have the NVR on the internet in order to remotely view your cameras live from the app, right??

sorry if i came across as being a dick...kork kinda clarified my POV for response...but i've never heard of wifi enabled NVR because of the constant activity and required on NVR to serve that video out to internet, plus wireless connection is not synonymous with security

I have a Lorex system that I've been mostly pleased with. As others have said, they quality at night could be better. It also gets a ton of false motion hits in the dark with bugs and such. I think I paid around $550 for a 6 camera POE system.
