Who has the best cable modem for Cox internet? I really don't want to rent one from them.

I have the MOTOROLA MB8600 and it has been great. I got it because we are renting a house which has MediaCom cable but when our home is finished we will have Cox. The MB8600 was supported by both companies and can handle their highest speeds.
When I was looking at modem reviews I felt like there wasn't any big differences between any of the DOCSIS 3.1 modems so as long as you pick one on the Cox compatibility list which supports the speeds you want you will be fine.

The all in one panoramic setup from cox really is the best

I have gigblast and panoramic modem from Cox,but get no where near the 940 megs advertised. Any way to bump that speed up?

I was kind of leaning towards Motorola after reading reviews this weekend.
Their panoramic looks good but I doubt it's any better than google or netgear mesh systems, which I will be doing one or the other. We will have Cat6 drops in every room for all the Apple TV's.
I'm to the point I'm tried of being charged $12/month for this piece of equipment and $10 of that one. I'll just buy all my own shite and when a piece goes out I can run buy a new one and don't have to wait on their techs to come out.
At our new house we are just going to stream everything because if we were to stick with Dish we will be paying around $40-50/month in rental fees for receivers and Joeys. For a years worth of rentals I can buy enough Apple TV boxes for every TV in the house. I just figured out I've paid Dish around $6,000 over the last 25/yrs in rental fees.

Same here...earlier this year dropped cable and phone service, kept internet with 2TB/mo cap...turned in all their shite and have been enjoying youtubeTV since...have a NAS and Plex, plus netflix/hulu/disney....been a great experience until youtubeTV upped their price last month by $15...if they try to raise again then I'll look elsewhere

Have this one as well. Absolutely solid and it also has some hidden ports for link aggregation/port bonding. It'll handle any ISP speed thrown at it (6 gigabit downstream, 1 gigabit upstream).

Good to know, thanks for that info.

I've always recommended the Surfboards. That's what I'm currently running as well.

Is there a particular model you recommend?

Whats the difference between docsis 3.0 or 3.1.
I just noticed my netgear nighthawk gateway modem (c7000) is docsis 3.0. Seems like it needs to be reset often and was considering upgrading. Its just a little over 2 years old though. I have 400mbps unlimited with suddenlink

Good info here. This thread reminded me to check my Cox modem (which was an older CISCO DOCSIS 3.0). I had Cox upgrade it today to an ARRIS TM3402.
