AT&T fiber to node and fiber to home
I live in a town home community and the best AT&T offers us 75 mbps. That service is coper wire from the node to the house.

My question is, the node is literally 10 feet from my front door. Would the make an exception for me and run fiber to the home?

I highly doubt the would but I was just wondering.

I don't know about AT&T specifically, but I've heard of people getting ISPs to run new infrastructure at a customer's request (e.g. connecting a new neighborhood that is not yet serviced by that ISP). Of course, the catch is that they charge for it and it is very expensive.

No idea how much that would cost in your situation though.

Really, you gotta call and ask.

No. What the fiber does is allow multiplexing of multiple endpoints without delaying traffic, then reroutes on your copper line. They aren't going to install Fiber because their system is not designed to inject the fiber at your house

They’re laying fiber in my neighborhood now and it looks like there’s a lot more that goes into it that just running the fiber from the node to your house. They’re doing a ton of work other than just digging and running fiber.

I’m stoked though they started a couple months ago and said it should be ready by January

Jeez. I would kill for 75mbps. In my town, in my neighborhood, the only non-satellite internet service I can get is AT&T. I get 6mbps. 6 in and of itself is not terrible, except that the latency is maddening. You can click a link and it just sits there for between 1 and 5 seconds before it actually does anything.

It depends. Fiber also includes TV; that means that they will typically have to negotiate with other TV providers. AT&T has more clout that local fiber companies, but the overall concept is the same.
