Asking all the Hulu subscribers for answers

cutting the cord to save $75 a month
what I could not find on hulu support I ask here
I have 4 tv's. Main tv is hardwired to router-(for Tivo) do I need a stick for main?
the other 3 are smart tv, do I still need a stick for each?
Currently with REV (old Eatel) which have their own remotes, so I have to switch to tv remote?
Almost decided with Youtube TV, but they don't offer History channel or Lifetime (wife).
anything else you might add is appreciated.

I have hulu I would say try streaming with tv's first if they buffer then go firesticks

I have smart tv's, but choose to use roku sticks to stream Hulu with Live TV. I like the roku remotes and platform. It makes it easier that all my tv's work the same with the roku's.

You should be able to use the Hulu streaming app installed on the TV.

Whether or not you need a fire stick has nothing to do with how the TV gets it's internet (wired v wireless), but whether or not it has the Hulu app or the ability to download the app.
You will either need to go back to your TV remotes (if they have the apps), or the Roku/Firestick remotes if you chose those options.
I don't have the HuluLive version, so can't discuss how well it streams; but I use the TV app on my Samsung Smart TV, the other 2 are TCL TVs (Roku TV), so it's basically the same as having a Roku stick/box, without any problems.
Advantage to the Roku/Firestick is you will have access to a lot more free apps, Roku has an app, Pluto, FreeVee, Tubi all have options that we will occasionally watch in my house.
Another thing to watch for, depending on household size, you can only have 2 TVs watching HUlu at one time.

I use Hulu Live in place of cable. It's ok. The interface takes some getting used to. I'm probably in the minority here but I like Hulu's interface better than YouTube TV's. I find Hulu to be glitchier on the Firestick than it is on the Roku. More buffering and sometimes it will just cut off and go to the Firestick home screen.

Do you have an iphone/use apple devices? If so, get an Apple TV for like 100$. It's probably the fastest device on the market. It runs apps like Hulu, youtube, netflix, amazon prime, etc etc. You pay for whatever subscriptions you want and the apple TV is just the stream box/device that outputs said content.

As clearly stated on the Hulu website, it only works on 2 screens at once. This doesn't sound like the thing for you.

Good luck with Hulu. I raged quit them last fall.
I got tired of:
-my "no adds" plan constantly having adds. Having to call tech support and exit out, reload Hulu. Seemed to be a constant problem with my Roku app. They couldn't fix one episode of Alone that I had recorded. Unable to fast forward thru any commercial on just that one episode.
-Every time I'd try to watch a football game on my phone, I'd have to log back into the app. Since my phone had passwords saved, it would reject the old password, saying it was "incorrect." But when it would force a change to the password, I would try the saved, old password from my phone and it would reject and say "can't use old password." It cannot be "incorrect" and "old."
Eat stool Hulu.

Unlimited screens for a 9.99 add on, I think there are 5 running here right now.

I think this is related to the network airing the show, and whether it's been 24 hours or more since the original airing. I deal with the same crap with Paramount+ like this. Bravo (I'm not gay) seems to be the worst on Hulu, but I don't know that I watch a single show on the big networks (ABC/NBC/CBS) that isn't sports. It's not unique to Hulu though, as I can't rewind some soccer matches while they're still in progress on Paramount+, but if I wait until the match is over, I can do what I want.

I recently tried Hulu for a month and am now trying YouTube. I much prefer the YouTube interface. Hulus layout is awful IMO

You mentioned better performance on plug in devices than the app on Smart TV. Can you elaborate? Reason I’m asking is we use Hulu through our Samsung TV app. Sometimes it is blurry or hazy. I’ve just blamed it on our Starlink but now wondering if using a plug in would solve this issue.

Can confirm. When you use the app through the TV, you're limited to whatever RAM Samsung allocated for Smart TV use. It's also probably the cheapest processor they could source to run Prime, Netflix, etc.
You will get better performance out of a three year old Roku stick than you will out of of a 1 year old smart TV. I've observed the difference between sticks, Roku Ultra, and Roku TVs, and it is real. Channel loading, firing up content, all of it was much faster on a years old Ultra than it was on the sticks (five years worth of vintages), and the smart TV versions were the worst in terms of speed. Not to mention the limited RAM in TVs mean it's offloading apps to save space.
It's $35 to test the theory. Try it out.
