Oh wow, so apparently Apple’s “AI” is coming ONLY to iPhone, Mac’s and iPad’s that qualify. So what the Sam frick are they doing for HomePods? They’re just gonna leave Siri fragmented as fook?!

I seriously am questioning apple’s leadership decisions lately.

Not sure what I expected but pretty disappointed in ipadOS. I literally have no clue why they put an m4 chip in that thing when it has been overpowered for 3-5years now.

I'm not going to lie, I bought this thing and it's a beautiful piece of hardware but it doesn't do anything my 2018 Pro couldn't do. I have until 7/30 to return it and after today I might. I don't want or expect MacOS, but I was hoping for something that would make use of some of the horsepower.

If I had the money or still on anything other than the last one, I might upgrade. However, yea I was hoping for some minimal iPadOS changes just to show they’re moving the needle forward.
Just frustrated but I’m not sure what could’ve made me happy.

Hell the screen alone might be worth it for movie consumption.

Think of this as a transition to a new architecture, like when they moved to lightning cables.

I get that people weren’t blown away, but Apple pushing locally run and privacy focused AI is a huge deal for everyone, even non iPhone users. It sets a new standard everyone will aim for.

Apple never gets credit for this (at least not in this board). It’s always “they added a feature Android has had for years”.

I said this 5 years ago, but we’ve reached the point of diminishing returns on hardware upgrades. AI is the next monumental leap, and Apple just took a huge step in that direction.

I won't even pretend to understand all this AI stuff, but Elon Musk seems to disagree

I'd be happy if I could figure out how to stop every fricking window from opening up when my computer restarts. So I didn't have to deal with their horrible window MGMT. Apple OS really is pretty annoying and frustrating when you mix your day between both it an WIN.

Ohhh....and stop freaking mixing up pics that are uploaded, so I have to waste time putting them back in order before editing. Can't even move them to a final album without the order getting mixed up.

But instead they'll just tie in with ChatGPT/openAI and say they improved siri.

I can only assume, but what's the 4th grade level explanation of what is concerning with this move by Apple, and can it be removed/turned off? I saw Musks tweet so trying to make sure I understand his concern. I don't use siri, so if I can avoid some sketch features I'll be happy to do so.

Ok...is there a good basic explanation of how they have?

No on my M1. When it restarts every individual window I have minimized prior pops up, so I have to minimize them all. Just annoying.

100% true story. my wife won an ipad at a local IT lunch and for awhile it was better than sliced bread. she doesn't care for electronics but it was just the right size and form factor for her to look up pinterest shite.

one day i picked it up and was going to use the calculator app to do something or other.

NO CALCULATOR APP.

so that was annoying but i went to download a free one from the apple store and NONE OF THEM WERE COMPATIBLE with the version of iOS on the ipad.

none.

so i was forced to update the system..and bricked it. the formerly decently running ipad got an update that made it virtually unusable.

nothing left to do but throw it in the trash.

THANK YOU APPLE! YOU'RE SO GREEN

Hmmm. maybe try system settings, Desktop and Dock,
minimize windows into application icon settings- turn it on. Maybe that will be a workaround.

It hasn't been years, but yes Google's Gemini AI is already available for android phones. Gemini Nano, the on device version, is running on Pixel 8 Pros.

I would imagine that Elon is going to come out with a phone that runs on starlink.
