I started using it and find it vastly superior

It’s not superior, especially image search, but I use it.

Right. It's a good search engine, and I use it, but how is it superior outside of not tracking?

I switched a while back. Does everything google did.

Does not nearly bring the more compelling results google does. I went to Bing which I am happy with more than duckduckgo.
Still use Google for image search but I rarely do that.

I switched 2-3 years ago. Not much difference in search results and more than happy with not supporting the other 2 main choices.

I've used DuckDuckGo since 2015. After being on Google for like 15 years I thought it would be a difficult transition but no, it couldn't have been easier. The search results are great and I always quickly find what I'm looking for. If I ever can't find something and try to use Google instead, I don't ever get better results. And I use search engines to research things, not just to type in "reddit" or something.
The only place I'd say DuckDuckGo needs improvement is that there is no image search. I have to drop back to Google for that.

Reverse image search? You could use tineye

Yeah, reverse image search. I do use TinEye, but it doesn't always give the results I need, so then I'll use Google's reverse image search. But sometimes the opposite is true; Google doesn't give me what I wanted so I'll need to use TinEye.
