I've got a Nighthawk, how long before it quit on you? And what happened?

not even a year and half. getting 6 up and 6 down when i should be getting 60/10. had cox out everything is right on their end.

Any way to plug a computer directly into the cable modem and bypass the router to prove whether cox is correct?

Yeah, I would make sure it's your router first before going out and spending 200 bucks on a new one. At work we've got a Nighthawk that's at least three years old and haven't had any problems whatsoever.

Already plugged computers in. It's the nighthawk

Guess you’ve already reset and upgraded firmware and all. That sucks.

I've had the dyslexic version, the RT-AC68U, for a couple of months now. It's been great.

I originally bought the nighthawk and never could get the damn thing to work properly. Returned it and went with the ASUS and have not had a problem since.

I have an Asus router. It’s the Mack daddy model from a couple of years ago. No complaints at all. It’s been flawless.

I have an AC68U. I liked it so much that I bought my mom one so I'd have one to use when I went over to visit. It's no longer cutting edge, but there's a reason it won so many awards and was in so many "buy this router" lists when it was.
I'd imagine the 86U would be the same sort of solidly performing router.

I never owned the nighthawks but had 2 netgear ac 1750 that both shite the bed. I went the ASUS brand and won't look back. I can't remember which one but it too was the really nice one from a few years ago. Never had to unplug or reset going on 2 years now. The netgears always sucked and would constantly need resetting.

ASUS ftw! once you have that shite unboxed, immediately go over and install remerlin on it.

I’m looking at buying a couple of the T-Mobile ac1900’s (identical hardware as the AC68u) and putting the AC68U firmware on them so I can run an AI Mesh setup.
Has anyone here used Asus’s new AI Mesh software?

I had the asus rt66u and my dad had a similar one. Funny you say you had speed problems... our 2 Asus did the EXACT same thing after 2 years. I was only getting 1.5 mbps up. It was over Christmas time so I attributed it to too much traffic until I got fed up and checked.

I have the RT-AC87U and it has been great. Especially running Merlin's firmware

I've been reading into this. I got one for free from TMO so I want to flash it back to a Asus 68 but it seems to involves lots of steps and not always too easy. And then I want to get Merlin or Tomato or whatever is a good version. I may pick up a 2nd as well if I can figure how to do this flashing.
