Bought a four channel dvr for auto use. Going to run a forward camera, two rear cameras and an interior camera.

I can set certain alarms, so doors open all cameras record, also shock sensor and lights on will cause cameras to record, and of course they record while running. Front camera will act as a dash cam, and is a 720p HD camera.

Inside is a basic chip camera, outside one is a high mounted backup camera. Camera rear two is mounted at trailer hitch level. I have two monitors inside, one displays rear view at all times, the other displays alt rear view when in reverse. Also the reverse grid appears on both monitors.

each monitor also has the DVR as a secondary input and it's controllable from the cab via IR remote.

Records sound, vehicle gps data, and vehicle acceleration and braking.
Figure I may as well go hi-tech with my work van.
also threw in a six speaker surround sound with bluetooth and Sat radio.

Worried about break ins and employees not treating my stuff as good as I would.

I think vehicle dvrs will take off in the near future as black boxes. IMO my insurance should be reduced for all of this.

I don't know, man, they might try to increase it with all that extra stuff to insure.

Will be following this thread. Always loaded down with NFA guns and suppressors, so I should probably invest.

What was your total?

Not CCTV, but I have a front-facing dashcam out of my front window. Cost me like $65 for the dashcam and a large SD card together.

Had it for like a year or two now, been working great. Glad I have it.

I still drive defensively as I never want to get in a wreck but when it inevitably happens I know I'll feel a lot better being able to prove without a doubt it wasn't my fault.

That peace of mind is worth for more than the $65 or so invested in it.

It's common for taxis and buses. They have a couple places in town that install them. Just make sure you buy one that designed for a vehicle.

I'll go out on a limb and guess that if it is your fault you'll tell the officer that the camera hasn't been working for a few months and you never got around to fixing it, amirite?

I thought you were talking about in an RV up until this sentence.

You should also install some signs on your vehicle to warn others that it is protected.

Heck, I might do this on my car so I can install some Trump bumper stickers.

Is this for a new season of taxicab confessions?

I got in a wreck with a road-raging meth-head who slammed on his brakes at a green light when I was behind him. My insurance company paid him nearly $4000. I later looked up his criminal record and he'd done 12 years in the clink for 6 armed robberies, and was nearly killed trying to rob a drug dealer. I swore after that I'd get a dashcam but just like my Blendmount radar plan I got lazy. Maybe I'll open up Amazon right now and get started...

You think a dashcam would've proven you innocent in that wreck?

Yeah, you should leave enough room to stop if the car in front of you comes to a dead stop instantly and without warning. Otherwise, you're tailgating.
