If so, how do you like it? How long have you owned it? Any issues? I'm looking at grabbing this one maybe at the end of the week since it's on sale. Was looking at a Sony (X800M2), but reading customer reviews it seems to have random freezing issues.

I've been getting into buying more and more 4K blu-rays lately. I've been using the PS5 as my 4k player, but it's just so dang bare bones and doesn't have Dolby Vision (which the next tv I will be getting this year will have) and may never get it. I saw this Panasonic is loaded with everything you could ever want (HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HLG) so I'm really close to pulling the trigger at the end of the week.

(I posted this on the movies/tv board, but this board may be the better place to post it).

I have one. The UB820 is used by quite a few AV-philes, especially those with projectors because it has a feature (Panasonic calls it "HDR Optimizer", the general term is "tone mapping") that helps with HDR for displays with different levels of brightness. Projectors are dimmer and tend to struggle with HDR if this isn't included somewhere in the chain. The UB820 is a solid player but if you don't need that feature (i.e. if you have a bright 4K TV) it's not quite as big an advantage.

When Oppo sadly stopped making disc players I sold my UDP-203 for double what I paid, and bought the Panny. For my projection setup that one feature made a huge difference. (Some projectors now have that feature and it's better to have there as it works with any source.)

Nice! I am super interested in the tone mapping setting. My tv I'm currently using right now is pretty weak at HDR since it doesn't get that bright so that setting might help me out.

It's really just a temporary set (I got it back in 2016) since I sold my Sony X900E to my brother. I had bought an LG CX OLED last year after I sold the X900E to him, but ended up returning it (burn in fears cause of my habit of playing old games that are 4:3 with lots of static elements) and decided to hold off until this year's new tv sets.

I also just prefer Sony's processing compared to other brands so will probably be getting the Sony X90J when it releases.

Here's the thread on the movie/tv board. https://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/movie-tv/anybody-on-here-own-the-panasonic-ub820-4k-ultra-hd-blu-ray-player/95208183/

It's gotten somewhat active so I'll just be posting in that thread from now on so I don't have to post in double threads, lol. Just shoot me a response or whatever in that thread.

I too plan on buying an 85-inch Sony x90J or X95J this Spring, maybe Summer when the first sales break.

Will drive it with my Oppo 203 ... hope it serves the purpose. Also putting my entire 1080p Blu-ray collection on Plex. Will play the 4Ks on disc.

Maybe you can answer this for me. What would happen if I paired one of these with my non-4k projector and played 4k discs? Would it be an upgrade over a pioneer elite bluray player? Projector is a Panasonic something or other 3d but not 4k. The few 4k projectors out there still pretty pricey. Waiting on them to come down.
