Not like a 1st generation or anything, but I think I have seen some 2013 models for about a $100 bucks and that seems… too good? Concerned it would be so slow it would be unusable. It’s not going to be a workhorse, just browsing and YouTube/streaming.

I have an older one from around that era. It’s a bit sluggish. It works fine, but has now lost support from iOS. So I can’t download the latest OS and more importantly, apps. The ones installed still work, but I can’t update or download new ones that don’t support the older OS.

Capacity is another issue as the older models weren’t as big as current ones.

Battery life would be my biggest concern

Don't do it... .you're going to find a lot of apps you won't be able to use anymore

Will run like garbage, have next to 0 battery life, and on the off chance you still somehow enjoy anything out of the experience you’re going to shell out the $$$ for a brand new one anyway.

Don’t waste your $100

I have a ipad mini that I now use as a music streamer. When I downloaded pandora and spotify, it initially said that they wouldn't work but then I was prompted to download an older version of the apps.

It works now, but it is a bit sluggish.

Don’t do it. Apps won’t update after the operating systems become obsolete and Apple doesn’t update after a couple years then everything runs slow.

I’ve got an older iPad that I have since replaced. The old one still works fine, with a few exceptions. The main thing is that it does not have a modem…for use only with WiFi. Trouble is, that Apple no longer supports the operating system. As a result, I can’t connect to any Wi-Fi except my home Wi-Fi. It also limits app updates, etc.

The whole “planned obsolescence” thing just pisses me off to no end. I have to say that I have never had a desktop or laptop PC that has lasted as long as that iPad, though.
