Android messages for web went live today

Just tried it, setup was a breeze with the QR scanner. Finally starting to catchup to imessage.

Yeah, definitely server side because it just popped up in my app today. So far it's working flawlessly

I just don't see myself ever switching from Hangouts unless I have to.
The ability to send and receive calls through my PC as well as text anyone is too vital now that I've been using it for years.

You will need to get the latest apk for the app and the option will be visible but it won't work until Google "switches on" the availability.

I'm pretty sure they will make Hangouts part of Google suite eventually and it won't be a consumer product but a business product. I meant it will go away for casual use outside of business.

As long as the desktop extension and app are there that is all that matters. Is calling still exclusive to Project Fi? Been on Fi for so long I forgot that was exclusive.
Nothing better than working on my PC and getting a call on my PC and answering it and can use headset and PC microphone. Never have to touch my phone or even look at it while I'm working, the best shite ever.

Yes, just wait. I did not have to update the app. Yesterday morning when I opened it for the first time there was a banner at the bottom for messages for web

I can still call with Hangouts, but sms is fine exclusive, which makes the app pretty useless to anyone not on fi.

just got the notification in messages 
now i see them on my PC...does this now mean all my SMS texts are saved if i factory reset my phone now?
