Wish this was in the shape of a sound bar or something mountable. All of my TVs are mounted flat against the wall with no shelving and some have sound bars. Guess I’m sticking with regular fire TVs that can be hidden behind the TV.

I would expect that to change in the future though.

Roku/Fire/Chromecast built in is what the budget TVs are doing as a differentiator these days and I would expect that trend to kill "homegrown" smart TVs for everyone except maybe Samsung. They have developer assets in place already because of their phones and probably want to maintain control.

Oh like their last 4k HDR Fire TV.....oh wait.

I will never buy another Fire TV. Nvidia Shield all the way.

and good luck watching youtube not in a browser on this. IT is like you are back in the early 2000s.

I'm a little surprised they didn't increase specs much from the dongle.

I wish they did. I still kind of want a better media streamer, but the convenience of Echo is tough to pass up.

If they didnt upgrade this wont play 4k HDR.

The only thing that really beats this is probably the Shield. Ugh. I really want a Shield,

Am I the only person who thinks streaming and smart tv apps run better off devices like the PS4, Xbox One, Fire TV.. etc, than they do off an actual smart tv?

I thought this as well until I tried a TCL Roku TV.

one thing at a time. my winegard eave mount just came in and now i have to go climb on my roof to hang an antenna and not die, then route the coax through my house to an hdhomerun box i have no idea where i'm putting and then have to run an ethernet cable and i don't have any spare cable or crimping tool right now.

I want to like it. However, I absolutely despise the UI on the Fire TV sticks.

Roku, IMO, has them easily beat.

I wonder if Google will release something similar?

I use my Home minis and a Harmony hub. Does literally the same thing.
