Yeah, I've never had any lag type issues with the remote on my Fire TV box
I'm not talking about the supplied remote. I'm talking about IP control of the Fire stick. Amazon doesn't publish the protocol, and in fact, they encrypt it in the phone app, so you can't snoop on it (I've tried), which leaves sending commands via the Android debugger adb.exe, which is very laggy. (I use my IR remote to send IP commands through my PC and WMC receiver, Autohotkey, and some software I've written.)

I want to use my universal remote, which is IR. It's got macro support, plenty of buttons for WMC, Kodi, VLC, BD player, ATV4, AVR, etc, NO LCD screen, flawless learning, and layout and feel second to none. Beats the shite out of every remote I've used, including Harmony models. They discontinued it years ago, but I've snagged several brand new spares at around $25 each over the years. Review and photos here:
nevermind my question above. missed this on the bottom of page 2

I'll be keeping my current gen Fire TV. The need for a hanging ethernet adapter and the hdmi plug-in design are huge turnoffs, not worth the added HDR support.
Yep, I am just fine with my 4k HDR Dolby Vision Roku TV, thank you.

The things people freak out about
I want the HDR capability, I'll stick a piece of velcro or 3m tape to it and call it a day.
The thing is 2.5 inches across, it's not going to do anything to the TV.

Anyone grab the new Echo or Echo Plus? I'm all about grabbing an Echo Plus and I would if it didn't look exactly like the last generation. Basically, I'd buy one if it was redesigned to look like the new Echo.
I'm sure the next round will do just that and I'll grab one then.

I'm expecting some serious Black Friday deals on Echo devices.

I see Google yanked YouTube from all Amazon products

Does anyone know if you can download an app on your phone and then view what the echo spot camera sees on your phone, basically a security camera?

Just got Alexa as a gift and set her up. Can I ask her to play individual songs and is there a cost for this?

If you are an Amazon Prime member then she can play any of the 2ish million songs that are part of Prime music. There is a charge for Amazon Music Unlimited if you need music that isn't on Prime. You can also connect Alexa to your Spotify account if that's what you use for music LINK /
