Less than $1000
No brand preference
Smart
I’m not knowledgeable enough or up to date to answer the other questions. I will do some research.
I would like to pair it with a sound bar

I'm partial to Samsung 8 series for my indoor TVs and Vizio for outdoor (can't seem to kill them.) I've sworn off LG due to two bad experiences, but I don't personally know anyone else with the LED backlight issue I had.
There are a bunch of 60"+ available for under $700 before taxes, so the price range isn't a problem.
I'd recommend at least 3 HDMI ports, but the more the merrier.
For use with soundbar, an HDMI connection is preferred, but most TVs come with the optical option, while the Aux jack seems to be going away for some reason. I like the Aux jack because I connect bluetooth headphones and the transmitter hook up can be a pain without it. Not sure if you were looking into having that ability or not.

if i were you, i would go to costco and use my costco visa to buy:
TCL 6-series 65" $699
4 years warranty
return it anytime you want if you get tired of it.
i think that's the best deal on the best tv for the price right now.
read up on the legendary TCL series 6 at rtings or cnet.

if i were a costco member i'd be all up in that
i'm rotating between the
Vizeo M-Series Quantum
and
Hisense 65H9F 65-inch 4K Ultra HD Android Smart ULED TV
about 2 months ago Amazon had a random sale where the Hisense went on sale for $399 and then was sold out until just recently. PISSED i missed that glitch. both usually will end up $699 randomly either on Amazon or, more often, Best Buy

That TV is $730 at BB and perhaps they will price match.
not exactly. no voice remote/IR only on the best buy model.
not a huge deal but i have a soundbar in front of my tv which blocks the IR so i like that i dont have to aim the remote at the tv like i would with the best buy version.
also the voice control; while not necessary is nice to have when looking up stuff for the 4yo.
also the tcl/roku works with alexa which is nice so if you have a dot in the room you can tell it to pause, turn the tv off, etc.

That’s not a thing with TV’s. I think you have like 90 days.

4 year warranty baw. Just bring it in and say the pic randomly goes out on you.
Costco will take it back.

They changed their policies on TV’s for this very reason. You have 90 days to return a TV after that you have to deal with the manufacturer or Assurion if you bought the extended warranty. The Costco 2 year warranty is for repair only, you can’t return.

Picked up a 55" TCL roku TV today at walmarks for $298

You should have spent $100 more and gotten a 55" 6 series at Costco.

Why? I saved a hindo and got the same sized TV that does everything I need. It's hanging on a patio outside in 95 degree heat 4 months of the year. Cheaper the better. I got 5 years out of my last one before a panel went out.

Plus you don’t have to pay the cost of membership at Costco.
