Arsenal games are still cheaper than the fricking saints. I never understand the bitching about this.

I sure hope thats not the mentality of the MLS brass.
It’s not but for me as a Fan I’m not losing sleep over the MLS being a bad league (compared to the others in Europe and some South American)

Those leagues had a 100 year head start and don’t have numerous other sports competing against soccer. I’m convinced we will get there eventually.

Maybe eventually.
But not in my lifetime , so it won’t matter

I mean how can we really tell anyway...
MLS can't really ever play UEFA clubs except for the FIFA Club World Cup, and that's a joke.
No one will ever accept we're better even if revenues and payroll are 50x Mexico's for example.
Btw the question is no longer "can an MLS team survive in the Premier League", now it's "how many MLS teams would survive in the Premier League".

But we aren’t
We consistently lose to Mexican teams in the CONCACAF Champions league
We haven’t won this since 2000
That’s the only measure I got though
I guess this new leagues cup, but it’s brand new

That’s another thing I’ll ask.
Why is the MLS season when it is?
I know Liga MX does 2 seasons or whatever the frick it is.
Semesters or some shite

Hard to play in half of the cities from late November through February.

Is it?
They play football in similar cities

I said hard, not impossible.

Outside of ridiculous snow storms, I feel like it would be more dangerous in extreme heat than extreme cold.
Of course you had negative figures in places like Minnesota
But 20-30 degrees isn’t that bad.
I run in the morning. Gimme that over 100

It's harder to keep the field in good condition when it's colder. That matters a lot more in soccer than it does in football.

Fair enough.
Didn’t think of that
But how many cold weather teams play on artificial surfaces?

Pretty simple. Would have been hard to compete with Football and Basketball when the MLS first started. The window they picked has the least competition and coincides with a bunch of international competitions that can keep the hype for soccer going.

Minnesota, Toronto (hybrid), Montreal, Chicago, Columbus, NYRB, NYCFC, Philly, DC, SKC, Colorado, and RSL all have grass.
Almost half of the league can be considered to play in cold weather areas and play on grass fields.

MLS sides have no where near the depth

Apertura and Clausura. Latin Tradition since the 90s. Their season runs July-May, so they take advantage of the distinct split at Christmas/New Year. Includes fun shite like crowning two champions every year, having two tournaments (for a while, its back to annual), and a big other cup between the champions.
Also, several countries still run in July and August despite the heat, so I'm not sure if it's that big of a deal.

Gets pretty fricking cold in Russia and they still play the “normal” calendar
