Also, Haji Wright scored a second goal today, this one from the run of play... and he just toyed with a pair of defenders.

So this has been a heck of a weekend so far. Sargent with a brace, Pefok with a goal and assist, Wright with a pk goal and one from the run of play, Scally with an assist and Charlie Kellman with a goal.

Gio returned for BVB today.

Came on in the 62nd minute and looked his dangerous everytime he was on the dribble as usual.

He did lose his marker on want ended up be Bremen's tying goal in the 90th minute. (BVB was up 2-0 in the 87th minute and ended up losing 3-2).

Miazga scored for Cincy today.

Also I forgot Cameron is there too, so I guess I'll start watching more of their games to see 2 of my all time USMNT shithousers anchoring a backline together.

I don't really remember Geoff being a shithouser.

Him in his prime would have been really good for this squad with his ability to play out of the back. We never really appreciated that then.

Oh he was always in the middle of those Mexican pull aparts. And he seemed to be the only one who would stick up for Pulisic on the field when he would get CONCACAF'd.

And you're totally right, he would be perfect for this style Gregg wants to play.

Pefok, Haji, and Sargent are doing really well.

Could those three and Ferreira be our 4 attackers in Qatar?

Would you take Vazquez over Ferreira?

This from Lille president Olivier Létang at his press conference this morning: Tim Weah will be immobilized with an ankle injury for three weeks (Sunday L’Equipe preview of LOSC-PSG says he’s out until Sept. int’l window) and is expected to stay at Lille.

They have different styles of play. Vazquez is more of a big target forward like Pefok. Ferreira provides a different option than the others so his spot is safe unless he suffers a real dip in form.

I think Sargent, Ferreira and Vazquez are similar in the sense that they all are good on the press.

Ferreira's best attribute is his ability to drop deep to receive and push the ball with the wingers playing off of him. He also has great positional awareness.

Sargent and Vazquez are the closest thing we have to complete strikers.

Pefok and Wright are dominant in the air, have a nose for goal and can hold the ball up.

If we're assuming that we take 3 #9's and Ferreira is a lock, which I think is safe considering how much Gregg played him to end WCQ and how he is still productive for FCD since, then the other two spots are going to be between Sargent vs. Vazquez and Pefok vs. Wright.

I think the first choice #9 will come down to Ferreira, Sargent and Vazquez with the winner of the Pefok vs. Wright battle being Gregg's ace in the hole off the bench if we need a 2nd half goal.

Of course, the wild card in all of this are if Pepi starts actually playing and scoring for Augsburg, but I'm not holding me breath on that.

Wright has not had much USMNT experience and has mostly played in lesser international leagues. I don't know if he will be on the plane to Qatar.

I am intrigued by his combination of size, strength, athletic ability(speed and quickness), and skill. If he continues to score goals, I will be disappointed if he is not on the team.
