Would repealing Title IX help soccer in the USA?

Crazy thought, tell me I am wrong.

Just repeal the 19th amendment.

College soccer should be for 14-18 year olds. it needs alot of reform if it wants a place.

No because Title IX has nothing to do with Pay to Play which is the real root cause of the problems with men’s soccer in this country.

Pay to play is voluntary. How do you counter it?

The main problem is soccer is just plain inaccessible for huge chunks of the country—whether that’s due to lack of money or lack of a nearby team/club to play for. Solving both of those issues would help improve us immensely. Unfortunately it’ll never happen.

No college soccer isn’t even the same sport
College athletes have more restrictions than full time pros the same age

Too much resources to do that. Better to hunt where the ducks are at.

It is legitimately the cheapest sport to play, you literally only need a ball.

Yes club youth soccer is expensive but there isn’t much you can do about that. It’s expensive to travel 5 hours and stay overnight to play other quality teams. There just isn’t enough good enough talent in close proximity in large swaths of the country. College soccer does not lead high level talent but maybe scholarship opportunities would keep people playing longer to achieve them.

It would self correct if title ix were repealed. Kids stop playing after high school bc they see a degree as being a more viable and lucrative option

All of our youth clubs have people on the payroll and need to make money. That’s why the richest kids play while some better players are forced to stay in Rec ball and go nowhere.
Our MLS teams should be better funding youth clubs to attract the best talent, not the ones with the most money.

Soccer might be the cheapest sport ever to play other than basketball.
It has nothing to do with a lack of money and everything to do with a lack of interest.

Would do nothing for men’s game. It would kill our women’s team.

How expensive is travel basketball? Club soccer is expensive. My son is 10 and it’s $160 per month and you are responsible for your own travel expenses, which comes out to easily $600 to $800 per weekend

It’s kind of circular isn’t it? Lack of interest means there aren’t many places to play in order to be developed, and those that are available cost $$ and often aren’t nearby. That compounds the lack of interest.

The best teams in the world are third world countries. Money isn’t the issue. Country doesn’t care enough.

Expect in America it’s not
And that has nothing to do with Title IX
