He was overweight and and we’ll pass his prime averaged basically a goal every two matches in MLS
Then struggled at Derby
Wayne Rooney just ages twice as fast as the average person.

The NFL doesn’t need pro/rel but MLB, NHL and NBA could use it.
Pro/Rel is a lie American soccer fans tell themselves that would solve all of the issues with MLS. That bad end-of-year soccer would somehow be more exciting if we executed the losing team at the end of the game.
We already have a solution to bad teams in the US; we go watch another sport where our city/locale has a good team.
MLS has been bad soccer because the childhood soccer experience has been shite for decades. Amateur coaches trying to explain offsides to 10 year olds who are more concerned that their mother is going to go to jail because she wants her precious to play and Coach isn’t letting him, while dad is trying to kill the volunteer Ref (who also doesn’t know what offsides is). Meanwhile Jr doesn’t know what good soccer looks like because: a) his city didn’t have a team b) his city’s team is never playing on television c) It’s also very bad soccer OR d) all of the above. So by the time he realizes “Hey, soccer could be a cool sport to become great in.” He’s in his late 20s and 30 lbs overweight.

This is…. oddly specific.

Why do you put Bundesliga in front of LaLiga?

Pretty sure the Bundesliga has more goals than any of the other top European leagues

My mom didn’t care whether I played, because she was the mentioned amateur coach on my sister’s team (ours was no better). My Dad thought the offsides rule was dumb (thought a cross the line akin to hockey was better).
The rest of that was my experience

MLS will stay behind EPL and LaLiga for a long while
My son and I saw Newcastle v. Brighton in Red Bull Stadium during this summer league tour. The quality of play for what amounted to a friendly on a hot and humid night was beyond anything I've witnessed in the MLS ever.

Off the top of my head, I’d say it’s about 14-16 right now and should either be at the bottom of the top 10 in about a decade, or right outside of it.
Curious what your top 13-15 are.

Better than anything in Asia but with Saudi on its current projection it’s going to be a problem for anyone outside the big European leagues.
Lmaooooooo
You think the American talent in MLS is bad, take a look at the quality of Saudi players. It will be a massive hindrance to that league growing.

A rough guess after the top 5
1. England
2. Spain and Germany depending on your views on depth and quality
4. Italy
5. France
6. Portugal
7. Brazil
8. Netherlands
9-13 would be in some order Argentina, Turkey, Belgium, Mexico, and Greece, possibly in that order.
MLS might be 14, but that isn’t including the Championship, so I would rank MLS 15.
I don’t know where to put the Championship and no one knows what to do with the Saudi league because their dynamics are so new.
Championship could be anywhere from 10 to 13. I don’t feel super confident but I think it’s better than Liga MX.

Would anyone put the MLS over the Danish league?

I think that’s reasonable.

Saudis can buy their way out of that problem though. We can’t

The saudis can’t magically buy their domestic players some talent

Generally agree with your list. Hard to compare the smaller leagues to MLS but I would be hard pressed to say which league is better between Belgium and MLS. I don’t think the Greek league is better however.

They have enough money not to have domestic players however. We can’t apply US and European parameters to what they do there

Pretty good assessment, but you have to think the Bundesliga 2 is in the argument around there as well. Currently 7 stadiums at 49,000 or more and the crowds are generally wild.
