Ovrebo deserved much worse than he got.

his liverpool tenure was underwhelming given the hype coming off korea/japan 2002 coupled with his antics but at this stage of his career he is the guy you love to have on your team/hate if he is on the other team.
he won about 79 free kicks against spurs th eother day

What did you move to Italy for? You marry an Italian? One day I might just move to France and marry a French chick.

Exactly.

Since, if I recall your posts correctly, you've already spent a lot of time in France and assuming you speak the language relatively well, you'd be starting way ahead of where I did.
I moved to Italy after working furiously to finish my degree and not having the chance to learn much more Italian than ciao and ravioli.
I'd also studied philosophy in undergrad and focused in modern American Poetics in grad school so Italy was a place where those specializations came in even less handy in finding an actual job than they do here.
So, the first couple of years were kinda rocky but I ended up finding a niche that fit, working for a label that re-issued Italian 60s and 70s music and editing the English version of a magazine they published.
It's certainly a life's lesson in perspective.

Not every day you hear of a fellow philosophy major. I'm pretty much lost on what I want to do once I graduate in December. Moving abroad would suit me well since I've wasted all of my money traveling, but I just don't know where to start. Writing is also a possibility.

I put off that decision by starting grad school. The TA/RA stipend is still the only job I've had that has anything to do with my major but I wouldn't change a thing either.
I focused a lot in undergrad on 20th century French deconstructive strands so I suppose it was a perfect major for travel and welcoming the unexpected.

Interesting. Where did you do undergrad? I don't have a focus. I'm thinking about teaching abroad for a little while, but grad school may be more beneficial. The Internet has pretty much given me career advice since LSU's counselors are miserable. Guess I have another person I can ask questions to if I ever need them.

FIFA and didn't want to bandwagon. I just started following soccer closely at the very end of last year. I actually was rooting for Chelsea last year over Bayern because I didn't understand the implications of the game and exactly how the Champions League worked.
The Euros really got me into it more, and rooting for Spurs has been a lot easier thanks to them signing Deuce and Bale's dominance. Still figuring out who to begin following in Serie A.

You do realize that you sound like a broken record in all of your posts on this board?
Fire the Fat Spanish Wanker.
It's all a vast UEFA conspiracy for Barcelona.
Orevbro is crooked cheat.
Barcelona are a bunch of diving cheats
Arguing because your team sucks? (Directed towards a random Arsenal fan. Only one point behind Chelsea FWIW)
Seriously you bring nothing to discussions except for the same tired and disproved shite.
Oh Lawd all teams have divers?
People support other clubs, because they like watching them play. There's really no moral high ground between clubs.

You're right. My bad. I should talk more about how shirtless guys give me a boner, what I'm snacking on, and how the next American under the age of 20 that can lace his own boots and chew gum at the same time is going to be next Messi. Then will you like me?

At least there would be satire involved in posts like that. There's a bit of reasoned satire behind the homoerotic posts. Rational discussion is encouraged.

You should know why people post homoerotic stuff on here. I think you're smarter than that. Maybe.
And you know good and well that getting under people's skin is your goal. Then you want to pick on the board because most everyone can't stand you?

Born and raised in New Orleans. Been supporting the Steelers since I was a kid in the early 90s
so you are a bandwagon steelers fan, have you even been to a game in pittsburgh
quote:
btw because I do see similarities
you sound clueless about Newcastle, they are an isolated and small fan base. The exact oposite from the steelers bandwagon nation.

Are you a Browns or Bengals fan, btw?

Pool - 08. Roommate from college and then post-college has some legit Pool connections and is a fanatic, so we would watch games and get drunk; this was the first time in my life I really had access to regular match watching. I played soccer as a kid (not good, at all, although surprised how many people here didn't play) so I just needed to find a team to attach onto. Current day, I just bought my first Pool kit and me and a friend of a friend go and watch Pool games in Houston and get hammered in the mornings. Its good stuff. My knowledge and interest in current players and the international game has really expanded the last few years, I really enjoy watching several clubs but at teh end of the day YNWA.

I think we have differing opinions on what bandwagon fans are. I didn't recently choose to follow the Steelers due to their success and two Superbowl runs. I've been a fan since I started watching sports, but apparently because I'm not from Pittsburgh I'm automatically a bandwagon fan? Been to 1 game. Genuinely trying to understand here. If that's the case, then hey, I'm a bandwagon fan.
ETA: Forgot to address the other part. When I'm talking about the similarities, once again I'm mainly talking about the unconditional passion of the fans. But also, I'm talking about how Newcastle and Pittsburgh were both big blue-collar industrial cities, and also the whole Tyne River setup reminds me of the Three Rivers setup. Also, New Castle, PA is right next to Pittsburgh. That one doesn't mean anything, but I guess this is really the only time I can use it in conversation.

ok as someone who has spent plenty of time in pittsburgh i know the similatires in the acutal cities and the hard working class fans. The difference is steeler nation has a huge bandwagon that does not relate to this life style of steelers fans esp in the 70's and 80's. There is no such Newcastle bandwagon and their fans are basically isolated from the rest of england.
if you became a fan in the 90's they went to a SB making the playoffs 6 times in the decade pretty easy wagon to join
