Didier Drogba

Because my son likes him. Started putting games on for my 6 year old at the start of last season so he could see how the game was supposed to be played. After a few weekends he said dad that's Chelsea and Drogba. I stopped flipping through games and started recording the Chelsea games. Had no idea about the EPL. Now we watch all of the Chelsea games together while he wears one of his jerseys. So basically, my 6 year old chose the team for us.

Born and raised in New Orleans. Been supporting the Steelers since I was a kid in the early 90s. I'm glad I picked NUFC, btw because I do see similarities. Sorry bro, I'll switch allegiances.

Are you a Browns or Bengals fan, btw?

Swansea City FC - 2011

Never played soccer growing up at all and never watched it (my older brother of 5 years never liked it and never played so my parents never got me involved). Had a few friends who played in HS. Summer of freshman year of college was WC2002 and we had late night parties to stay up and a friend's house to watch the US games. This was my first exposure to soccer really and that was a magical run for the US and a good education for me. Followed the US only until a few years ago when I started hanging out a lot more with my brother in law who is a Spurs fan. Started learning more about the game from him, bought FIFA 12, and ordered Fox Soccer. Got advice from guys on here to just watch the games and you will start to like a team. I liked the way Swansea played and their story coming from almost being out of league football on the last day of the season in 2002 to now being in the premier league. Started watching them more and more and now they are my team.

*also kind of root for Spurs as well for the BIL when they aren't playing Swansea.

AS Roma

Moved to Italy after grad school and lived there for 10 years, the last 9 in Rome, and am still back and forth.

Didn't take more than a couple of matches to get hooked on AS Roma though until moving I'd been a bit of a Sampdoria fan as teenager for the grand reason that I got a fake Samp jersey for Christmas when I was a kid.

I played wide midfield when I got back into the game in 2004-05ish.... I started following the EPL more closely, and here was a team that had dynamic wingers out the yin yang.

I was hooked.

I've always thought that it was interesting that Alan Smith's career trajectory was virtually identical to Leeds's

Why Did You Start Following Your Favorite Club?

Well to start it off and I know it's silly but I started with FIFA because that's the only thing I knew about futbol. My team that I always chose was Liverpool because they had the big boss in the middle, Gerrard, & lightning in a bottle, El Niño, Fernando Torres.

I remember my freshmen year at Ole Miss one of my fraternity brothers played for the U-18's america side and was always watching soccer so I go and watch a few matches with and we'd usually end up playing FIFA as well.

As time went on I leard the year prior Liverpool won the UEFA Champions League and what their history was so I was naturally inclined to like them. I continued watching their matches and really found that I had a love for the game as well as the club. Torres & Gerrard were the true selling points because I had never seen to players like them before and they were amazing together.

Anyway my junior year I was able to take a two week study abroad to Dublin. I knew I had the weekend off and looked around to see if Liverpool might be playing at home. I saw that they were took a short boat ride across the water in to the city itself. They just so happen to be playing and it was against Everton at Anfield. The atmosphere was amazing and it was my first professional soccer match to ever attend, I was blown away. Anyway I watched the Reds to victory and have been sold ever since.

I know we have been down but I will never regret choosing Liverpool's side it was a great decision and a wonderful club with amazing fans and support. It almost seems like Barca the 'Pool is more that just a club and as they say You'll Never Walk Alone.

I played striker and loved Thierry Henry but one of my good friends was a Gooner so I wanted to create "turmoil", I guess. I played as Chelsea with Drogba and fell in love because he was a beast.

Also didn't hurt that my sister chose Liverpool and was pissed that I chose Chelsea. Dad is a Gooner too so it's been a fun family rivalry.

I got FIFA for the first time in '04-'05 and I would wreck shop with those players. Didn't hurt that I was young and loved how much money they had in manager mode.

Watched almost every single match of the 2002 WC. Really liked Owen and Diouf. Found out Owen played for Pool and they also signed Diouf from Lens. The following semester I played a lot of FIFA with Liverpool. Picked up Fox Sports World on COX, and never looked back.

I started following Chesea in 89. Became a fan of Graeme Le Saux and that was his first year in the League. Followed Blackburn as well during his time there and became a diehard blue when he made his way back to Stamford in 97.

FC Barcelona - 2007

I first started following European football and tried to learn about all of the clubs I was seeing on tv. Of course the style of play drew me Barca, but I really liked the "mes que un club" mentality. I also love the emphasis on the youth teams and the importance of generating homegrown talent.

I have since joined the Penya and everything I thought about the supporters has been confirmed; just a great group of people.

Started following the EPL after the 2010 World Cup. I've been a big follower of the World Cup ever since the US hosted back in 1994. After a lot of talk on the World Cup board here on TD, I decided to take a look into the EPL. I read several articles online about the different clubs. I read through Wikipedia for more info on the structure of European football and more on the EPL clubs. I eliminated a few top clubs right away (Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal) and stayed away from any of the teams in the bottom 5. Started watching some matches that summer and was drawn to Spurs. Also, I think the logo and name are pretty unique and interesting. I couldn't be happier with my choice.
