odd, neither team is listed on the website, which is why i thought that.
nvm It was just the qualifying teams
"League A" is made up of 12 teams (4 groups of 3 teams)
half of the teams automatically qualified for "League A" by making it to the hex in the last WC qualifying period (USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Honduras, Trinidad & Tobago)
everyone else had to qualify for their spot in the different leagues

I wouldn't be surprised to see a 50/50 split between members from a regular 23 man roster and new/young guys. Could be a lot more beneficial than the regular January/February camp cupcake.
I guess more "real" competitions is better... less friendlies

ya I realize that now, I just saw a tab that said "teams" so i figured that was who was playing until I noticed we weren't even listed.

here are the "League A" groups
A: USA, Canada, Cuba
B: Mexico, Panama, Bermuda
C: Honduras, Trinidad & Tobago, Martinique
D: Costa Rica, Haiti, Curacao
play each other in your group once... group winner advances to KO round (only semifinals & finals)... last place in each group is relegated to "League B"
--------------------------------------------------------
League B groups (4 groups, 4 teams each):
A: French Guiana, St Kitts & Nevis, Belize, Grenada
B: El Salvador, Dominican Republic, St. Lucia, Montserrat
C: Jamaica, Guyana, Antigua & Barbuda, Aruba
D: Nicaragua, Suriname, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Dominica
top team from each group is promoted to "League A"... last place finisher in each group is relegated to "League C"
-------------------------------------------------------
League C groups:
A: Barbados, Cayman Islands, St. Martin, US Virgin Islands (this is the only group with 4 teams in it... all others in League C have 3 teams)
B: Bonaire, Bahamas, British Virgin Islands
C: Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Anguilla
D: Guadeloupe, Turks & Caicos, Sint Maarten
Winner of each group is promoted to "League B"... everyone else stays in "League C"

To clarify it's twice. Home and away fixture.
I know it's shite opposition in group but at least these matches can be labeled "competitive"...and 4 fixtures means it's all but impossible for us and Mexico to not move on.
I love the Nations League format, I just wish it were against CONMEBOL.

here's your daily reminder to never trust Wikipedia... or at least make sure you understand how the hell they have the schedule diagrammed out... or look at the full schedule just below the group table
so now that I think I understand it...
Cuba @ USA - October 11 (how many Cubans will defect the day before or day of is anyone's guess)
USA @ Canada - October 15
Canada @ USA - November 15
USA @ Cuba - November 19
ETA: Cuba & Canada play both legs of their head-to-head before the USA plays its 1st match

Sounds like Olympic qualifying won't be until 2020, so guys like Pomykal, Weah, etc. should be available for Nations League in October.
Posted on 7/9/19 at 6:29 pm to rt3
I hope for Cuba and Canada we play basically our U-20 team and the big 3 midfielders, depending on how they are adjusting to their new club and coaches.

Nations league with CONMEBOL would be badass.
Since we are playing scrubs like Cuba I want to see Pomykal, Dest, Richards, Gloster, Weah, Sargent, Parks. And if I don’t get my way, Berhalter out.

Bradley and Altidore need to go. They are losers. Just give me the youth revolution and let the chips fall
Posted on 7/9/19 at 6:42 pm to East Nasty Swaaaaag
I would say that barring fitness issues Altidore is a 50/50 shot to start the next World Cup right now.
Posted on 7/9/19 at 6:54 pm to cwil177
Unfortunately you are correct.

While I agree with this for the most part, let's just remember how this worked out for the Dutch national team.

I’m not saying getting rid of veterans per se. Gyasi Zardes instead of Josh Sargent. That’s criminal. Tyler Adams getting Jurgied to RB when he should be replacing Bradley, granted he’s dealing with an injury at the moment.

I don’t care about results per say but I would rather a group where we could get some experience playing in Honduras at 9 PM on a shitehole pitch
Posted on 7/9/19 at 7:37 pm to LAcajun2
We don’t play at San Pedro Sula at 9pm. Try 1pm hot as frick scorcher. What a circle of hell that place is.

Getting the young guys like Weah, Pulisic, Adams, McKennie and Sargent as much playing time as possible, which will hopefully help them develop further. They’ve shown promise but need to see them turn into quality players
Posted on 7/9/19 at 9:41 pm to WicKed WayZ
Guys don't "develop" by playing for the national team, they do so by getting minutes with their clubs.
