This is comical. He is the best ever so how that can be considered overrated I am not sure. People confuse the difference in talent level today between Europe and South America with the difference back in Pele's day. People disregard the quality of South American soccer in Pele's day out of sheer ignorance. Check out how many players from the 1970 World Cup played in Europe. Virtually none and they steam rolled all those frickers who played in Europe.

Believe it or not he is improving in this regard. Still has a ways to go but he is getting tougher. The Santos team learned a lot getting drilled by Barcelona last year. He will definitely have to beef up some but I think he will succeed.
IMO what he really needs to learn is to tone down his malicious dribbling because they will hunt him down for it in Europe. Then again, that youthful exuberance to do the incredible is what makes him great.

My friend's father is an old timer, and every soccer conversation ends in Pele
He never mentions goals. He always talks about how brilliant Pele was with the ball at his feet. Pele might not be the best player of all time, but he is probably deserving of being in the conversation,

He couldn't do it on a wet Wednesday night in Stoke. I'm sure Shawcross is praying for Neymar to go to ManU or City. He hasn't ended a career lately.

That is why he isn't the greatest. He was on the best International team ever. Zidane was more influential than Pele was on a match. Even Maradona probably was. Cruyf for certain.
