The offside rule needs to be re-examined. It was never meant to be used as an extra defender. Should be based on your feet and that's it. Let's open the game up and get more goals.

Yeah I agree. The whole body part behind the last defender sucks. I think anything that takes away goals (reasonably) should be implemented.

I’ll be honest, I wished they showed a real-time replay from a better angle, not this shitty animation. It seemed way closer than that.

just make it like illegal forward pass in NFL, if any part of your body (your back foot) is not over the line, you are onside. would result in a TON more goals, but who doesn't like goals?

The technology speeds it up, but the “inches” offside is taking away too many goals.
My solution: just flip the rule. as long as any body part is still onside, player is deemed onside. That way, if a goal is disallowed for inches it’s at least because the player was completely offside. This is similar to how hockey does offside

It's a good thought and I wonder if in 50 or so years you may see a nation like India, Russia or China genetically engineer and literally conjure up footballers who've no arms and who's heads are located in their torso rather than atop a neck to minimize the chance of an offsides call from extraneous limbs.
These modified humanoids would be most grotesque to the eye, but you'd gain a signifant advantage if you had 2 or 3 such creations up front
