God, I hope Dolo is healthy in 9 months. If we are rolling out Parkhurst and/or Brad Evans in Brazil, I may kill myself.

To be honest, he played like absolute dogshit the last time he was called up.

JK is big on what people "deserve".

he's nuts if he expected Dempsey not to take $8M a year to be able to move back to the states and finish his career.

If Jurgy is mad that Dempsey moved to the MLS, he can get fricked. He calls up MLS players all of the time, he can't act like it's some second rate league now.

I don't read into what he says as him being mad at Dempsey, or unhappy with his move. He's just saying that Dempsey's job is to stay at his best, and if he doesn't, Jurgy will discuss it with him...not with the press.

fricking this. Also he preaches often about how important the MLS is to the strength of the national team. You need guys like Dempsey to come back before they're washed up.

This is his first comment on the matter.

quote:

ussoccer.com: What are your thoughts on Clint Dempsey’s move to MLS?

JK: “It’s been a huge week. Having Clint back in the United States and joining MLS is big and I think everyone in the U.S. is excited about the news. I am thrilled for MLS because you have an outstanding player now hopefully filling more stadiums and getting even more kids and people excited about the game. For Clint it’s a challenge, coming from one of the top leagues in the world, coming back to the U.S. and being back in MLS where we still have to work on a lot of things. Clint himself has set the highest benchmark for himself over the last year. He became our captain and he has to keep that benchmark and he knows that. I told him that over the last two years that he’s got to go for the next level. Obviously we want the best Clint Dempsey ever and that’s what we’re going to push him toward as we begin to look toward Brazil. He has set a high standard for himself, and it’s up to us coaches to make sure he keeps that high standard.”

Who didn't play like shite in that Honduras loss?

I think we are really selling ourselves short if our starting fullbacks next summer in Brazil aren't FJ/Dolo/Chandler... DMB could maybe get by. No parkhurst or evans, please.

Outside of his debut in the Argentina friendly, Chandler has been very underwhelming.

I would take a healthy Dolo over him in a heartbeat.

If Chandler isnt deserving, and Dolo is not healthy what about playing Cameron at RB? If we are getting quality play from Besler and Gonzalez/JAB, and we are starting Jones in midfield it would be good to get him on the field in some capacity. I thought he did a pretty good job before Evans took over for him during the june qualifiers. He certainly has the speed for it?

In terms of club performance, chandler is a top 5 or 6 player in the national team pool. He needs to be around camp, acclimating himself to the team, and working on his englisch.

Writing off his potential value heading into a WC year is absurd.

He was good in every game except the last one where everyone sucked.

Yeah, bringing in Brad Evans from the other side of the world over Chandler at this point is the kind of personnel decision that garnered JK so much disapproval early on.

Evans/Castillo instead of Lichaj/Chandler. GMAFB
