~60 names are on the preliminary roster. Will get cut down to 23 before the start of the tournament.

Doesn’t Rubio Rubin play for someone else now?

I don't think he's done any paperwork yet. We have reached out to him and he seems to be willing to stick with us as long as he's in the picture.

He's been training with Guatemala I believe.

There's also questions about Nyeman's current eligibility.

Akinola is on Canada's roster but not the USMNT's.

Gomez is on USMNT's roster but not Mexico's.

Hope, CCV and Green were the only euro-based guys, correct?

I’m surprised to see Cannon, Lletget, and Acosta on there since they played in nations league.

Does the Gold Cup mean anything?

Gives a lot of these MLS guys a chance to showcase themselves and be in a camp in front of the coaches. They have some young guys on the roster that can be moving to Europe soon and really factor into 2026.

And it can help our FIFA ranking.

The more we dominant CONCACAF, the better.
It makes it more likely fans get invested in US soccer. It makes it more likely a Mexican-American will declare to play for the US. It makes it so we will be able to schedule better friendlies and improve our world ranking.
We don’t have the soccer success in the US to treat any competition as unimportant.

Steven Goff
@SoccerInsider
Clarification: Moses Nyeman is a US citizen. Occurred in past year when his mom was naturalized. Because he was under 18, he's automatically a citizen. He doesn't have a passport yet. That's coming soon, probably in time for Gold Cup eligibility. (He's also eligible for Liberia.)

Surprised Luca de la Torre isn’t on this roster.
