We need to go mercenary and pay out the arse for a proven, winning international coach that can TAKE US TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

This just in. Nick Saban says he has no intention of leaving Alabama to coach the US Soccer team.

Ok, I may have phrased my question poorly. I'm not referring to today's game really but to soccer in general. Is there a certain strategy to playing "longball" soccer, or is it just a necessity to advance the ball down field when you're out of gas?

My only reason for asking was that I've seen the US resort to this type of "attack" in previous instances as early as the beginning of a game so I was hoping someone could shed some light as to why that approach would be taken.

After this, he has to be let go.
I've been supporting him, but going with that lineup is just an atrocious decision that absolutely cost us the match and a shot at the semi-finals.

He is done.

Soccer in the US will never rival Baseball, Basketball, Football or Golf

I think he's right. Soccer in the US is behind golf. Heck, lacrosse may beat it out too.

Bob needs to GTFO. This team IS NEVER PREPARED. It's reminds me of LSU, although not as talented, but geez it's frustrating as hell to watch. You can't get down early in the World Cup.

I'm in China right now and last night the bar I went to to watch it was full of them. I think they've finally stopped that. Also 4 of them tried to sell me drugs.

Sometimes. When the U.S. does it, it's normally Bob Ball, or the act of kicking it as far as you can and hoping one of our guys gets it on a break. It rarely works.

Late night tonight, and I know I am catching this late, but I'll add my two cents, and I am sure these views have already been posted but here goes. Starting Clark was a bad choice, we all know it. No good first touches at all in the game, from anyone. Altidore looked tired and gave barely any effort for most of the game, I like him but he was not good today. Howard can not get beat near post on that first goal, that was some bad defense all around. IMO, this was the worst game they played all tournament. Sucks too because folks seemed to be getting interested around the country and it seemed like a favorable draw to advance further.
