People calling for his head were taking it to an extreme, but the team's performances and alleged morale were pushing the limits of what is acceptable for this team in this region. The team's performance since then doesn't change that.

Juergen has bought himself some significant breathing room since that point, however.

Jurgen still froze out Donovan for way too long. Not a fan of that. I will be happy enough if Landon once again becomes an A team lock as he should be.

Remember the posters on here claiming he would only be a sub in 2014?

I am glad that we committed to the 4-2-3-1. It took a little longer than I expected in the cycle, but there is finally some consistency.

I'm just glad that he stopped trying to fit all of his central midfielders into his formation of choice.

Me too. I think we are answering a good amount of questions. Roughly Half our starting 11 should be a lock, but I don't know exactly where a few of them should be. I think we need Fabian at LB just because we can by with Dempsey and Zusi (GAM sub) on the wings.

I actually feel the potential midfielders that have the best chance to make the squad are the tough, grind it out guys like Cameron and Beckerman. How many lesser versions of Bradley do we need? Maybe two in Mixx and Holden. That is just a crowded spot and a couple guys will get left out there.

Altidore
Dempsey Donovan Zusi
Jones Bradley
Johnson Besler Gonzalez? Dolo?

I wouldn't really mind that. It'll be interesting to see who gets dropped for Landon.

I still don't feel 100% comfortable with DMB playing LB in a World Cup, but as long as he doesn't break again and isn't coming off of an injury, I wouldn't kill myself if I saw him played there, certainly better than Jonathan Bornstein.

I think that the central midfield questions get worked out during the next year. You'll have to be playing well to get on the plane, but there will certainly be good players who get left out.

Awesome. You should send this to Noah Davis or Chris Ryan on Twitter. I bet they'll post it and credit you.

switch Donovan and Dempsey and that's my dream lineup for Brazil next summer.

I'm starting to believe that Donovan is more dangerous than Dempsey in the middle. He's a much better facilitator, too.
