He literally said I'm arguing something I'm not arguing... but yeah, it's me.
I get it, you don't like me because we have differing view points on a message board (America BAYBEE) on what's best for us soccer, but white knighting for pride because you don't like me is objectively funny.

For the sake of clarity, at no point have I ever said our best athletes are collectively playing soccer.
My point from the very beginning has always been it wouldn't matter if Russell Westbrook took to soccer. He wouldn't maximize his potential in the sport because we're eons behind europe when it comes to youth development.
On top of that, this idea that USYNT and domestic academies are made up of a bunch of trust fund kids who couldn't hack it in other sports so they defaulted to soccer is just non-sensical. They are very much good enough athletically in comparison to the rest of the world and could thrive in the more traditional American sports if that was the path they chose, even if they aren't considered to be in the arbitrary category of "top 10% of American athletes"

Funny story at the airport gate just now:
Little MOT “Dad, the guy sitting in the next row looks like Weston Mckennie”
MOT “Oh, that’s because it is Weston Mckennie”

Messi would be a fricking stud baseball player. Dude would have been electric in high school football and point guard too
Messi is 5'7 150 pounds, maybe he is Jose Altuve, but more likely he is not playing any of those sports or doing okay at a 1A high school. To act like he would be getting scouted by any serious P5 school in those sports is foolish. Even comparing to someone like Darren Sproles is foolish as he was 40-50 pounds heavier than Messi.

Truth is it’s just so damn easy for a fantastic American athlete to never play any real soccer.
Your experience in tennis is shading your ability to argue here. I was slightly above average in high school tennis, and did okay in the UTSA tournaments I played in. Never did enough to get ranked, but I didn't suck. It was clear though when I had friends who went on to play FCS football come out and mess around that they could have been studs had they focused on tennis. That isn't the case with soccer. Size, strength, and speed helps tremendously in tennis, it doesn't translate directly to soccer though, if it did Gyasi Zardes would have been a world class striker.

Depends on what Sportsology has to say.

My argument it’s more likely than not he would have never played competitive soccer
The worlds best soccer player would have more likely been 1st team all district point guard who then went to lsu to be a normal student

No I completely agree with that. I just don't think the USMNT is struggling because of a lack of athlete problem, it's a lack of development, coaching, and longterm strategy. The lack of development comes from the lack of a longterm strategy.

While that’s true, we still don’t have the talent to compete as most of our athletes are playing other sports.
This is stupid. US Youth Soccer has more players than Belgiums entire 5-17 year old population.

The coaches in Belgium, I’d imagine, are better.
My wife has “coached” “US Youth Soccer”.
And didn’t even know what soccer was before meeting me

The number I want to see for fall countries is aged 8-12 males training 15 hours or more soccer a week
In the US we count “playing soccer” as one hour a week at the rec park.
I bet even with our population advantage countries dominate us in that category which is massive for the development in soccer and tennis
You had a 10 year old here focused on soccer only playing 15 hours a week the OT would trash you. That shite is expected over there

Not sure what the “America BAYBEE” is for… are you ok brother?
You just always have to come out on top of arguments and fail to see that people are making legitimate points and even agreeing with you to an extent. That’s why I’ve been confused as to whether or not it is a schtick you're on.

Which I agree with, but think is more of an issue to do with pay-to-play being rampant.

Pulisic isn’t playing MLB/NBA/NFL.
Having eleven players with athleticism similar to OBJ, with the right development, could tip the scale in the favor of the USA (IF THE DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM WAS WORTH A DAMN).
I think you’re both right. I’m just calling you out because you have a track record of being a) stubborn as hell and b) hard-up to be right in arguments.

Yeah, I'm the only on here that does this... Jesus Christ.
You and everyone else on here do it just as much.

Because he's short, not because he lacks athletic ability. He would've definitely gotten a college scholarship playing baseball or basketball if he worked on that instead of soccer.
I think you are severely short changing a dude who was good enough to get spot starts for one of Europe's better teams at 16 years old.
Fact of the matter is, contrary to popular belief, athleticism isn't a "one size fits all" type thing for sports. There are different traits that are more suited for different areas. Which is why the "Pulisic would just be a run of the mill guy at Catholic" argument was hilarious.

Dude, you can't play the voice of reason card when your major contribution to this thread has been just to call me out.
Don't be daft.

One of the things Klinsmann was working on and he did improve it. Imagine had he been given 6 years. Sometimes you have to fail before you succeed.

He was given six years... and he successfully rotted the MNT from within.
Just because Gregg sucked lets not return to the Stockholm Syndrome that was Jurgy.
