They’re gonna fire and hire someone before the Olympics?

How does that work? Isn’t it the USMNT or an entirely different team?

The men's tournament in the Olympics is U23 plus three overage players.

So most of the current players won’t be on that roster, interesting.

Literally none of them will be. Club teams don't have to release players for the Olympics.

Walker Zimmerman, who will be our one overage player, is going to be the only one on the roster who played in a World Cup

For those hoping Uruguay was going to rest the starters, no such luck.
Where was this announced? Lineups don’t come until an hour or so before.

So essentially no one really cares about soccer in the Olympics?

It be cool if we made a run, but it's very much a "minor league" tournament.

I hope this is true but nothing USSF has done should make anyone think they will get rid of Greg.

Women’s soccer… yes.

Men’s… not so much. I think largely because it coincides the same years as the Euros and Copa America.

But in general, people don’t really know it’s not that big of a deal which is why I find it funny when people make a huge deal out of not making the Olympics. Obviously you want to make it, but it’s not your first team.

It’s because it’s a U23 tournament for the men.

It’s important to make it so young players get the experience of playing in an international tournament.

I know it’s a U23 tournament. I just thought those tourneys might be the reason it’s a U23 tournament. But that’s a guess.

If you look at the Google match preview, the USA has a 38% chance to win this match compared to Uruguay’s 32%.

How many are part of clubs that routinely play international tournaments?

Teams are loath to let players go to the Olympics. When Jesse was in Austria they let a player play in both the Euros and the Olympics and the player got hurt in the latter and they lost him for half a season. Aidan Morris and Tanner Tessman are very questionable as are several others that were in the last Olympic friendlies as to whether they will actually be on the Olympic roster.

Do you mean the champion’s and Europa league? If so, very few if any who are on the Olympic roster.
