Also, I love that you hate Olympic soccer so much that you are sticking up for the talent in the Gold Cup (another tournament that you have notoriously shat on in the past) just to make your point.

More so an indictment on us than it was a credit to Curacao.

Watching our best u-23s who play on the full national team beating an Italian u-23 B squad doesn’t tell us much
It tells us more than beating up on Belize and Haiti.

You really trying to say a bunch of B side U-23 teams are better than Costa Rica, Canada, Jamaica full national teams
Posted on 3/28/21 at 8:27 pm to Broski
God damnit.
I intentionally stayed away so I could enjoy the fam time and drink and be merry and just checked the score.
How tf does our B-C U23 team still not beat any team Honduras rolls out? Is Kries out after this?

Considering those countries aren't bringing their A-squads to this Gold Cup... yeah, I'd say a lot of the Euro U-23's are better, not to mention playing on a much bigger stage matters as well.

Can’t believe I am agreeing with this asshat, but Alexi Lalas said it best post-game.
“If you’re going to say the Olympic qualms are a priority, make it a damn priority.”
He said the USSF/MLS and all the coaches have to be on the same page to make that happen, and clearly they weren’t.
Also said the USSF and MLS should be ashamed they didn’t get the best players available to this tourney despite the relationship they claim they have together.

Nah, none of them matter now and so teams have still been doing the "on year, off year" approach.

Legit laughed at this quote from Kreis:
quote:
"We have players that aren’t moving," Kreis said of Sunday's display. "We have people on the ball that aren’t committing defenders to make decisions to open up spaces. We have guys that look like they just don’t really want the ball, and so again, it just kind of goes back to mostly mentality for me. ... At the end of the day it just wasn’t quite there from a confidence point of view."

Kreis belongs in charge of a UPSL/NPSL club, it's embarrassing he was given such a role
Posted on 3/28/21 at 9:02 pm to RemouladeSawce
Kreis called up too many defensive midfielders. Just insane that he thought that would work. The best looking player at the end of the game, Tessmann, didn’t even make the original roster. Just embarrassing.

It sure would be nice if our federation didn’t decline all of those Copa America invitations. That tournament after the World Cup would be the best official competition our players could grow and show if they have “it” to make it on the international level.

Well ya
That time we sent dudes down there and they got their arse handed too them actually helped that group of players who where younger on the squad grow.

He’s less consistent than sir Winston

Kreis throwing players under the bus after a tournament where he started a match with THREE CENTER DEFENSIVE MIDS is fricking laughable. No wonder we didn’t win shite we should have (MEX/HON matches) in this tourney, Kreis is stupid in terms of tactics and doubles down on it with his personability.
He never had this team’s dedication, and that quote is the shining example of why.

Example?
And don't just look at the roster and say "Jay DeMerit". I want specific reasoning for how that Copa America galvanized DeMerit's career.
By the way, if you listen to Benny Feilhaber's podcast. He, Stu Holden and Mo Edu all talk about how important that 08 Olympics was to their careers. Have yet to mention the 2007 Copa America.

I’d say both those tournaments were very beneficial for him and American soccer as whole back then
But that was a different level of us soccer
Playing vs South American A squads will always be better than u-23 Olympics
Not qualifying isn’t the end of the world bc our best young players at on the full national team
It shows the next level down of players still have some work to do

I vividly remember the 95 Copa America. Players like Lalas, Harkes and Wynalda specifically mentioned how that tournament was a game changer for them. Unfortunately the US hired Steve Sampson and his 4-6-0 formation and axing Harkes from the team killed us for the 98 World Cup.
