Exactly. I appreciate the MLS academies for developing enough young talent that can ply their trade in Europe to actually help the national team.

The actual senior MLS talent remains very mediocre.

I don't think anyone needed yesterday's match to already know that.

A big reason why MLS is far from being a top 10 league

Like I been saying the American players who play in MLS are just not good enough

You need to produce good domestic talent that stays at home to have a good league

I love how you're forming this as you going against the grain, when literally everyone knows this.

Brazil and Argentina laugh at this.

You just need produce good talent domestically at the youth level. After that, it doesn't matter where they play in their 20's.

The American athletics system doesn't work well with soccer, although the travel ball system could potentially work for soccer.

I've seen people on here say otherwise

Wait, are you saying the Brazilian league isn't good?

For the sake of the conversation, go look at how many Brasileiro players were on Brazil's World Cup squad.

It's a feeder league. The argument SCH is making is that you can't have success without your best players playing domestically. That only applies to Europe.

That’s what most of us think the league should be and become bc it’s not constructed to be a top league

No that isn’t even close to what I said and have said in the past

Read again

I’m saying for MLS to become a top league the players we produce that stay at home and can’t make it to Europe have to improve.

It has nothing to do with the top talent going to Europe

It’s that second and third level players

There is a reason European teams don’t try to buy MLS defenders who are not youngsters

Usually in Brazil, if the player isn't gone before the age of 21, they stay domestically as the club doesn't get the fee they would like. That plus they pay good wages and the culture keeps a ton of talent home. Just making sure you were not saying it isn't a good league as I think it's the 6th best worldwide (England, Spain, Italy, Germany and France).

That's exactly the issue Brazil and Argentina are facing.

quote:

It has nothing to do with the top talent going to Europe

It has everything to do with that. For the USMNT, that's all that matters.

Face it, the way world soccer is constructed, MLS will never be a premier destination league. All that matters is youth development, which is trending in the right direction.

You need better reading comprehension

Except both leagues are better than ours

Both produce much better domestic talent than we do. Their talent that doesn’t go to Europe is significantly better than our domestic talent in MLS

How are you not understanding this

quote:

fricks sake I know we need the best players for the USMNT to play in Europe

I’m talking strictly the domestic player in MLS that plays in matches like last night that should be no where near the national team

Fam I already said MLS is not built to be a top league and have said producing young talent that goes abroad should be its mission

I feel like you are arguing for the sake of arguing without actually ingesting what I’m saying. You are interpreting it as me saying you need a top domestic league to have a top national team. But I never said that.

College.

Will never happen with this.

Great players are already playing in top leagues as teens. Our guys are going to play college soccer with limitations on training.

If they are good they would skip college in us and go play in another country.

Meh college soccer isn’t that big of a factor as it used to be

You just need to educate parents that trying to get a scholarship for D1 shouldn’t be the end game
