Can RB even say no to call ups for international tournaments

Pretty sure they can’t

So they may have called him up to evaluate his fitness

And he obviously passed that evaluation because they kept him on the roster before the deadline last Monday.

Not officially, but clubs have notoriously "recommended" what players can and can't go for years.

You really don't think Gregg and Jesse had conversations about this?

Principle 1.1. says: "Clubs are obliged to release their registered players to the representative teams of the country for which the player is eligible to play on the basis of his nationality if they are called up by the association concerned. Any agreement between a player and a club to the contrary is prohibited." It is not compulsory, however, for clubs to release players outside of specified international windows and clubs do not have to release players for more than one major senior international tournament in a year.

Completely feasible that they could have called him up to evaluate his fitness as RB has no say.

Jesse hasn’t even got his foot in the door yet to work with his new squad

And completely not feasible to keep him on the roster past the Monday deadline if he wasn't healthy enough to play when they had already spent a week in camp with him.

So you think Gregg didn't talk to him or anyone at Leipzig?

He was just like, "He Tyler frick your back, come to camp?" and Tyler was like "Ok coach!!!"

Are you really this dense?

I’m sure they talked

And they could have called him in to take a chance he’s fit so they wanted to look at him

It’s not a conspiracy

He’s been out since April and probably lacks match sharpness coming off an injury

National teams have called in dudes that passed an evaluation but ended up not being full fit just to get injured again

Then why keep him on the roster after the Monday deadline?

Again, Gregg and the USMNT training staff had already spent a week with Adams at that point.

And then on top of that, why say publicly that Adams is healthy the day before one of the biggest games of his USMNT coaching tenure?

You're right, it's not a conspiracy, but you're trying to make it one.

At that point take the chance he actually comes good. We are not deep at the position as well all know. Hell England is doing the same shite keeping a clearly unfit Jordan Henderson on the Euros squad. Just to bring him on at the end to test his fitness

Made my wife and mother-in-law watch the Mexico vs Costa Rica match because they were all-in on Mexico vs the USA. They are from Honduras, but hold that Latin-American pride highly.

After watching the Mexican team act like counts, both of them hate Mexico now and will be rocking the stars and stripes with me tonight!

I don't think there's any problem calling in Adams regardless of his health. Worst case scenario, he can't play but sticks around with the team and has a positive influence off the field while learning more about the system (he's missed a lot of camps due to injury). Best case, he gets healthy and can play. Win-win.

It's possible that he can get reinjured, but if the doctors clear him, then I don't think you can really blame anyone. It's just another unlucky incident. If he's cleared to play, then the only question is his fitness/sharpness since he hasn't played since late April.

This is so fricking dumb and would make zero sense for all parties involved.

For the top of the top, American medicine beats European medicine, and it’s why you see athletes from around the world come here for the care. For the average citizen maybe not so much, but that’s a systems issue.

Getting a second opinion is fine and I think having more docs caring for Adams is a net positive. The docs USMNT hires are really good and I’ve met several of them.
