We got it all wrong. It was important to try to win the midfield and we punted it all night.

You can blame Jurgen as much as you want and there is some blame to be put on him. But you have to blame the players just as much. Only Zardes and maybe Brooks played up to their ability. When you play a team you have to play your A game to have a chance and you play your C- game it is going to look like that.

Lol. Did you see the midfield we trotted out tonight? I mean what the hell did you expect?

punting it to the sidelines just seems ridiculous

you're putting that offensive player in a bad position with the "defender" of the line automatically

relying on zardes in that role is just insanity. he stepped up but he's not going to be a long ball outlet

Same thing would happen 99 out of 100 times. The talent gap and most importantly the coaching gap at a young age is so much better at every level. It is like the US playing Puerto Rico in basketball.

This game was just a total US soccer move. Win a couple of games to draw in interest then play like complete shite

Your squad fought hard the first half but the game plan was retarded. Pressing Argentina was the dumbest thing to do. It bit the US in the arse by costing 3 goals in less than 50 minutes. Then, the US had no choice but to keep pressing, but by that time you're just trying to wiggle your way out of quicksand. You really can't blame the players for that.

We could have put out the best 11 the US has had in their prime and still gotten blasted by this team.

I will say Michael Bradley is probably the worst player on the team. He had some solid games in the past but has been terrible since World Cup 2014. He created more chances for Argentina than the USA. Time to turn in the arm band

Who would you have put out there? Nagbe for Dreads? Ok but everyone thought we needed a destroyer to break up their attack? Pulisic fell down on the pitch as much as he made things happen. He just isn't ready. Especially on the left, helping a LM playing LB against the best player in the world. So the only replacement you have for Wood is Wondo. Your top 3 true ST options aren't available. (Wood, Alitidore. Bacon). I don't know what you think he could have realist ally done to make a difference.

not with good tactics

we're not THAT bad. we're not built in a traditional manner, but we have positives

the first 2 goal opportunities were literally given to argentina by our terrible starters

We are just so far below Argentina's level that it seems inconceivable we can ever reach that kind of talent and skill.

I know it takes generations to build world class talent, and we've improved marginally, but I'm impatient. How long will it take to be a legit international threat? Just doesn't seem like it'll happen.

Our ceiling for the foreseeable future is "solid."

Oh, I'm not - I'm an OG Klinsmann hater. I'm blaming him over the players.

Except Wondo, I'll throw some blame his way.

lletget/feilhaber (and have bradley sit back)

i also would have had lichaj there for LB to allow fabs to play LM

finley would have been enormous this game at RM

having fabs and finley out wide and zardes up top gives us countering options

Both of them played very bad. Brooks lazily gave up a goal and zardes lost so many possessions with AWFUL touches.

Agreed, but they just might be that good. They have over 50 players in their pool that would start for us. We are getting better, but until it is a way out sport we will always struggle in big matches against big teams.
