Ehh... for pride maybe, but in terms of the Hex, not really. This is a game that we always mark down as a loss
Did the Mexicans have that attitude when they faced off against us in Columbus? I see no reason why we don't look at this as at least a 1 point outcome.
Otherwise, we may have to fly out to Tashkent or Melbourne or Jeddah just to make it to Russia.

No, but they also didn't have to face a 3-day turnaround in a shithole of a city.

It's not a crucial game. In reality, if you get even 1 point it practically locks up the World Cup. I love Nagbe so I want him in there, but I think Bruce wants exposure for some of these players, specifically Acosta. Omar and Arriola make sense because of Liga MX. Brooks wasn't going to play both games.
Also, there is a case to be made that Bobby Wood is a better striker currently than Jozy, so I'm ok with that. I would love to have Nagbe and Villafana out there, but Villafana apparently has a small injury.
My only GIANT pissed off thing is Guzan...Howard better be hurt. The gap there is massive.

Yep, if Howard isn't hurt, Guzan makes absolutely no sense.

I agree with keys, this is baffling to me. That being said, If we are going to trot out a totally different formation, does it make sense to also change a bunch of players? That way they don't fall into playing a similar style to Thursday night?

Let's all just imagine the reaction if Klinsmann picked this lineup in this match. Ooh boy.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't Howard historically struggled against Mexico? Or maybe I'm just thinking about that 2011 loss.

If we lose this game, we will be at 7 points. Next set of qualifiers aren't particularly easy, either. Home against Costa Rica and then away to San Pedro Sula.
The last set will be the easiest and I do believe we will get 6 points. But the margin for error is a lot thinner than past years because of the first round.
Mexico is already a lock, but I see no reason why this game shouldn't be played with our true A team.

The outlaws aren't nearly hardcore enough for their name. They tried over and over to temper down the name calling of Mexicans. They should probably change their name and let a more ultra group have the name outlaws
Real Ultras would make a Trump reference in a Tifo and rustle some Mexican jimmies

He was in the net when we won there... made a ridiculous save at the end.
To be fair, Guzan started in the WCQ draw in 2013.

what formation does el tri run these days?
3-5-2, with 3 central defenders and 2 (very) defensive midfielders.

I'm actually ok with Gonzalez over Brooks. Omar has experience in this stadium and is much better defending set pieces right now.

CP up top with Wood? This lineup has me puzzled

Yep. Interesting the reactions to Arena's "tinkering" compared to Jurgen's.

Literally everybody here is saying they don't like it.
Please quit trying to vindicate Jurgen.

Who said I'm trying to vindicate Jurgen?
Take a step back man.
