It has to be something as close as this as possible. We can't get cute and rotate 8 guys like we did against Panama. That could tailspin on us real fast and frick up our goal differential a bit.
Keep the MMA midfield in tact, put MRob in for one of the CBs, put Pepi in and maybe put Aaronson in for Weah or Pulisic.

Any word on Weston and Dest’s injuries they got in the last few minutes of the game yet?

Watching Pulisic last night was uninspiring. His touches were not good. Also can someone else kick corners????

He was honestly our worst starter yesterday, and I thought he was going to be the second starter pulled after Ferreira. Not that he had a bad game but a lot of guys looked sharper than him.
The 3 game window gives Gregg cover for any early (or earlier-than expected) substitution as well.
Aaronson was far more dangerous in the second half than Pulisic.

Pulisic got bracketed hard all night. That was good tactics by El Salvador.
Really if you want to kill this USMNT, you either bracket or foul the shite out of Pulisic repeatedly, and take one of Musah/McKennie out by the same tactics.

Totally agree. Put the absolute best lineup out there against Canada. If any rotation it needs to pretty much only be Miles Robinson for one of the CB (probably Richards), Pepi for Ferreira at Striker, and I'm fine with Aaronson for one of the forward wings. That's about it.
I know it's dangerous to think this way but if you have to rotate heavily for the third game then so be it. Honduras is solidly the worst team in qualifying. They will be on the road in cold arse St. Paul and out of contention. Frankly, if we can't beat them with most viable combinations of 11 then we got a big problem anyway.

Unfortunately CP is just not in form. Missed a ton of action in the early half of EPL, and since then Chelsea has been jerking him around playing him out of position, etc. He even played wingback in one match, it was terrible. Now he’s out of favor and Ziyech is playing in his stead. I know he has history with Tuchel but I’d be looking for a move if I were him.

Agreed. The only other option that should be considered is Yedlin who is in form and has had good games in the last few weeks of his Galatasaray career. Our other fullbacks are just not up to par.

Prepare yourself for Brooks Lennon.
Apparently Gregg is determined to have an Atlanta United fullback ready to go for Qatar.

Looked like cramps, they both seemed fine in the postgame celebration videos.

How much of that was because CP constantly drifted to the center instead of staying out wide?
If he stays wider wouldn't it created more 1x1 and not let ES clog the middle?
Legit questions...my tactical knowledge is very low.

Is anyone arguing against this. The chance to qualify is right here this window. Who knows what the roster looks like in March with injuries, covid, form, etc. The A-team is largely here and fit. The B team likely loses on the road to a Canadian team also looking to punch it’s ticket right now. The A team can get 3 points.

It’s actually why Pulisic started coming to the middle. Musah was on his side to begin with, and Musah was getting the same treatment. That meant we had freedom on the right side through McKennie and Weah.
Pulisic was essentially chasing involvement because he was choked out by the El Salvador gameplan. Pulisic is so good in space, but if you don’t give him space he can’t impact the match.

Absolutely correct. The problem was that Antonee could not get him the ball because the other team dedicated a right back, midfielder, and center back to ensure he was bracketed outside without space to receive the ball.
That’s why the game turned into a “who out of your other field players can beat us consistently” type of match.

He definitely drifted too far in, but our attack shape is basically a 3-2-5 with the outside back pushing up and the wingers tucking into the half space, which inherently makes them more central.

I’d be OK with him on Tajon Buchanan. If you shut him down, you shut Canada down.

I'll be slightly annoyed if we play Yedlin at LB when ARob has been really good defensively despite constantly bombing forward.

Because he was asked to be a false 9.

Apparently Weah did not travel to Canada.

BAJA IMPORTANTE
Tim Weah no ha viajado con el equipo a Hamilton, Canadá.
En las próximas horas habrá más información sobre la razón de su ausencia pero el CT confía en que sí estará para el partido frente a Honduras en Minnesota.
