If you could have a draw that sees us through to the hexagonal, albeit second in our group, highlighted by a career ending injury to Carlos Ruiz.
Or a dominant win reminiscent of Barcelona that sends us through on top?

Win or draw there's no way we could finish second in the group. A draw simply puts us joint top with Guatemala based on all conceivable tiebreakers.
That being said I'd much rather a Barcelona-esque performance and a dominating win.
And if the most despicable player on the planet happens to rupture his spleen, testes and irreparably break both his legs, I'd be pleased.
ETA: Sir Ian Darke is reporting that Guatemala will use a five man midfield sans Marco Pappa.

15-1 Yanks. Highlight of the game is after Bradley sees Howard dozing off in goal since the ball has been in the Guatemalan half the entire game, he fires a rocket in Timmay's direction to wake him up. Howard senses the ball approaching and hits a diving header at the top of his own 18 into the Guat upper 90 to make it 12-0. Guat's only goal comes as GAM gets tired of scoring in their goal so he fires a bicycle kick the length of the field into our own goal as Howard is at the concession stand getting nachos.
In the 77th minute Jermaine Jones, from the bench, gives Carlos Ruiz a mean look at shatters Ruiz's right leg. Deuce then farts on him
And no, Glass, sadly I won't be there. But I have special plans for this game.
Those plans involve munching on a post-game victory meal of Brothers chicken.

Roma midfielder Michael Bradley poetically captured the team's temperature the night before the game. "We all look forward to big nights," he said. "The reality of soccer in this country at the moment is that, at times, we do play qualifiers in stadiums where, even though we are playing at home, it doesn't feel like it. And so [playing in Kansas City] you can feel the excitement, you can feel the passion for the game and the national team. The opportunity for us to step on the field in a beautiful stadium on a great field in front of a big-time American crowd -- that is something we don't get all the time. It's another mark of good progress in our country."
I can't wait to see a soccer specific stadium, full of americans, supporting the USMNT. Tonight will be epic guys. This is the type of game that can set the tone, not just for the team, not just for the world cup, but for the country's interest. This is the type of game that, if we come out and kick arse, and show that we have made progress under Jurgen, could really propel soccer forward.

Not claiming it was my idea, I'm fairly sure it was brought up before, just hashtagging and supporting it

Did you forget about the Columbus game against Jamaica? Isn't it soccer specific? Hell that game was on 9/11.

May be a dumb question but I was reading in FourFourTwo the other night about some guy in England wanting the national team to travel around the country for their games.
Do most countries have a "national" stadium like England does?

Yeah, I read some English journos complaining about that during the last interlull. Seems some do, some don't. Don't know the percentages.

Does Spain have one? Stade de France = France, obviously.

Both teams are okay with a tie. How do you think that affects this game?

Neither team is assured a spot with a loss. Also collusion, if proven, can result in loss of points. So it would be very risky, especially for a team like the US, which should handle Guatemala at home.

Guatemala are going to dig in really deep and defend in numbers. They typically play in a 5-4-1, but their three first choice centerbacks are out with injuries. Twitter reports that it'll be a five man midfield for tonight's game.
Basically it will be Guatemala attempting to clear everything to Carlos Ruiz up top, who will promptly dive and waste time with an injury.

It really varies from country to country. Footballing rich countries like Argentina, Germany and the Netherlands always rotate the location of their national team games.
Other countries like England and France play in a designated national team. (England did play in Old Trafford, VIlla Park and other English stadiums while new Wembley was under construction) A majority of smaller countries typically only have one "Olympic" stadium that meets FIFA regulations for national team matches.

Ruiz buying fouls from outside the box is what worries me the most about tonight.
We should have a ton of the ball, but there will be long outlets to Ruiz, he'll fall over, etc.

So if disaster happens, and we lose by 1.... and Jamaica wins by 2. We would be tied on goal differential. What is the next tie breaker?

Didn't say it would be the first time. But all too often we are outnumbered in our own country.
