Inb4 Sheep has a seizure.
40-1 would be more fun to see how the players get unveiled, but I think the top 10 wouldn't have a lot of suspense. It would have to include Donovan, Dempsey, McBride, Bradley, Reyna, Howard, and Friedel.
1-40 would be better in terms of board participation, as 30-40 would have some tough picks. Would the 2002 World Cup stars like Sanneh or Mastroeni get in? Would it be the earlier starters like Dooley or Stewart?

I'd like to see a top 10 by decade.
Are there 10 notable players from the 80s?

shite, there probably weren't 10 US games from 1980-85.
I guess you could include some of the 1990 World Cup team in the 80s. Paul Caligiuri, most certainly.
Hugo Perez, probably and maybe (but probably not) Bruce Murray.

Yeah the 80s team would just be guys from the 1990 roster.

That's my point. Hard to unveil the players when nobody has a list.

Stewart better be in top 20, at least.

Friedel at 3?
I can't wait for Tony Meola day so I can style like a motherfricker with a ponytail.

Friedel at 1. Not necessarily the best US career, but I think he's the best "player."
Certainly, at his peak, the most valuable in terms of the transfer market.
